California City is a small town in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 5,567 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1892, John Wesley Holcomb and his brother Cyrus founded the Holcomb Manufacturing Company in what is now California City. The company made holsters for self-defense and other purposes. In 1899, they moved to their current location on First Street in California City. The company became well known for its quality holsters and products, and it continued to produce holster products until it merged with Browningwerks Incorporated in 1984. Today, Browningwerks offers a wide range of firearm accessories including holsters, concealment devices, grips and stocks.

In 1848, when Alta California was divided between Mexico and United States following the Mexican-American War, California City became part of American Samoa because that territory included much of what is now Orange County and parts of Riverside County and San Bernardino County. After American Samoa gained its own government in 1959 it reverted to Mexican territory again but Californian City continued to be administered by American Samoan officials until 1971 when it became an unincorporated community within San Diego County under Mexican jurisdiction again. In 1912, during World War I, US Marines landed at Anacapa Island off Califon Bay to provide support for Imperial Japanese forces ashore on Guam during World War II; most notably General Douglas MacArthur's Operation Coriolanus III which led to Japan's surrender at Tokyo Bay on September 2 1945 On November 5th 1969 Northern Californians throughout all 11 counties formed "Save Our Cities" coalition effort to pressure then-Governor Jerry Brown into creating an aggressive planning program for Fresno and other inland communities threatened by rapid population growth along Interstate 880/State Route 66 corridor; this resulted in Towne Plan Amendment #2 being passed November 15th 1970 establishing Calaveras Valley Regional Park System covering approximately 265 square miles extending from Stanislaus River eastward into Kern County including portions now inside Butte National Forest) during those years many new homes were being built adjacent Interstate 880 development stressing transportation; today these same developments are also causing air quality problems along I-880

In 1911, holster manufacturers started to make holsters for the newly designed Colt 1911 pistols. The first holster made specifically for the Colt 1911 handgun was called the "Olympia" holster. It featured a soft leather belt loop that allowed the firearm to be appendix carry-ready with its buttstock down. The holster also had a hidden piece of metal that connected the shoulder strap and grip safety on one side and helped keep firearms in place when not in use.
California City, California is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 22,362 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in San Diego County by area and second-largest in the county after Imperial Beach. The first European sighting of California City was on November 14, 1769 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo sighted land to the north of what is now known as Point Loma (a location that later became part of San Diego). The town began to be developed soon thereafter and from 1871 until 1892 it was known as La Jolla. In 1893, the Atchison–Watertown Railroad reached California City and started passenger service. In 1926, the US Supreme Court ruled that La Jolla could not be incorporated because it had no water supply and thus would not have been able to support a community without resorting to annexation by other municipalities or through legislation. However, despite this setback for La Jolla, business continued to grow throughout the 1930s with dredging operations starting up around Point Loma which created new waterfront areas including North Park Marina and today's Ocean Beach Boulevard Estates neighborhood east of Interstate 805 just south of Interstate 15.
The California City was founded in 1846 by the Donation of Land Act. The city was named for the Mexican land grant of California. The first post office in the city was opened in 1847. In 1868, the city became a part of Los Angeles County.
