In 1907-09 Columbia Pictures filmed "The Gold Rush" at Mexican Rancho La Brea near present day Calabasas Boulevard and Sepulveda Avenue; this location would become home to Hollywood Forever Cemetery later that year when that area was annexed into Los Angeles County as part of its growth during the 1930s and 1940s
