As a result of this fighting, many Mexicans left their homes and businesses in central Los Angeles County for temporary locations such as San Bernardino County near Riverside or Fillmore County near Sacramento in order to join up with American forces.Californians also developed an appreciation for horseback riding which would later be used as an essential part of their cowboy culture. California City experienced some significant growth during this time frame including several additions to its infrastructure such as a water system and public schools. Additionally, there were efforts made towards building a downtown district which eventually failed due to financial limitations however elements like these are indicative of how successful California City became over time。 In 1891 city fathers voted unanimously to annex neighboring unincorporated areas making it official that Californcity had become an incorporated municipality with its own government separate from those located within Los Angeles County’s borders

There are also several independent small businesses which have not been replaced by larger ones within recent years.

The city experienced rapid growth during World War II due to its military presence; it had a population of over 60,000 by 1945. After the war ended, California City began to decline; its population declined from over 100,000 in 1960 to less than 50 thousand by 1990. However, recent efforts have rebound Californcity's economy and culture; its population is now above 60 thousand people again
