Some people in Calexico may remember the days when hard gun cases were a common sight. One such store that operated in Calexico from at least the early 1800s was Mr. Pease’s Arms & Ammunition Store. This business supplied firearms to both local law enforcement officials as well as the military during World War II. In addition to providing ammunition, Mr. Pease’s also sold handguns, rifle rounds, and other Firearms Supplies items until the early 1960s when it closed its doors permanently due to declining sales. The store’s legacy continues on today as one of the most significant sources of handguns available in Calexico.

The Calexico Pistol and Rifle Club was founded in 1903, and the Calexico Gun Club was founded in 1907. The first U.S. military zone of operations during World War I was located in the region around Calexico, and then-U.S. Army Major General James Fenton decided to arm all civilian residents of the area with rifles in order to help defend against possible attack from abroad. In 1918, the local sheriff joined the U.S. Army as an officer, and by 1922, all townspeople were armed with shotguns and pistols for self-defense purposes. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibited Americans from joining up with foreign armies, so American citizens continued to arm themselves with firearms outside of their homes until 1924 when they were finally allowed to do so within their own towns limits under special circumstances known as “national defense exemptions”
Calexico, California is a city in Baja California, Mexico. The population of the city was estimated at 2,902 as of 2015. It lies on the southern edge of Tijuana Municipality and is bordered by San Diego to the east, and La Mesa to the north and west. The name Calexico comes from two words: "calle" meaning street and "exco" meaning reserva or land grant. already established in 1821 as Rancho Tecolotepec de la Cueva (later known as Rancho Calexico), this is where John Copley founded what would become Calexico. In 1876 Mexican settlers arrived who named it after General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's army that fought against American forces during the Mexican-American War. In 1865 General Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla granted a 20-hectare reservation known as Reserva Nacional Alta Californiana (National Highlands Reserve) to José María Morelos for his military campaigns in Yucatán Peninsula. He also ordered that all Indian slaves brought over from Cuba be freed and distributed among his troops. This event helped spur many new arrivals to move into this area which soon became known as "the most white areas in Tijuana". As part of Mexicali Municipality, located on both sides of the border between Baja California and Mexico City proper, until 1912 Gómez Landfill was managed by various agencies including Chihuahua State Natural Resources Department; Mexican Fascist Party Branch Office; Texas Electricity Commission - Southern Division; National Laboratories Service - Western Division;Mexican Electric Light Company - Northern Division; Agencia Mexicana del Seguro Social with its own office within Mexicali Municipality headed by Francisco Moreno Valenzuela de la Fuente who ran it until 1942 when it passed under government control again following World War II because of scarce resources. After years of being run by private interests leading to environmental degradation, MéXico set up unidad administrativa en Comunidad Autónoma para gestionar el Lago Agrio y el Río Madre in 1989 which finally abolishedGómez Landfill en 2000 When Chihuahua state privatized its natural resources industry Gómez Landfill re-emerged once again as one of several private companies managing such facilities throughout Guerrero states but finally closed down in 2006 due to lack market demand and Government’s concerns about environmental degradation having occurred at such sites for more than 50 years In 1929 Mayor Manuel Ibarra García proclaimed an emergency ordinance creating a fire department while still providing law enforcement services within Mexicali Municipality despite opposition raised by residents fearing they would become just another municipalidad like those before it caught fire one night leaving nineteen people dead including mayor García himself Other municipalities that followed suit were Buenavista (1930), Puerto Vallarta (1931), Taxco (1932), Tlaxcala (1933), Acapulco (1934), Manzanillo ( 1935) Ciudad Juárez/Nuevo León/Chihuahua City effective 1 January 1936 ; Escuintla-( 1936 ), Ensenada( 1937 ), Culiacan( 1938 ), Mazatlán( 1939 ) . As early fires burned out or were extinguished local firefighters usually patrolled neighbourhoods adjacent to the firefighting post seeking volunteers for their departmental response teams composed entirely men only until 1938 when women firefighters were added . On 15 October 1941 Leyenda Municipal bandanna wearing guerrero recruited 300 women tarados members mainly poor farm families into volunteer firefighter brigade fighting floods along with men during Japanese Occupation On 3 November 1944 Leyenda Municipal organized first female battalion general staff parade attended by Governor Avilés Reinoso Barranca commander of Army reserves Jefe Militar del Distrito Federal under orders received from Presidentéval Páez upon request made jointly with Director Estrada concerning problems caused by desertification affecting almost 400 villages situated east Of Zacatecas SurTotal numberFirefighters Killed : 7A total membership formed including women tarados reaching 2400 women taradas after mobilization operations lasting 5 months
There have been many different types of hard gun cases over the years. The first hard gun case was a holster made out of leather and cloth. This holster held a handgun in place by using straps around the ankles. Ankle holsters were often used by law enforcement officers as they did not need to carry their handguns in their pockets like handgun owners did. These holsters allowed officers to carry their handguns without having them fall out of reach, which would have caused trouble if someone found them when they searched for their weapon. Another type of hardgun case was called a birdcage holster. This type of holster was designed for holding handguns in tight spaces, such as inside a car or office building. Officers would put these holsters on while they were working, so that they did not have to take their pistols with them when they left the scene). Birdcages could also be used as makeshift storage units for handguns, since it could hold several firearms at once without taking up too much space

In 1853, a group of American soldiers led by Commodore John C. Fremont explored the region that would later be called California. The area lay east of the Bering Strait and was sparsely populated at the time. Commodore Fremont named the area California after King George III of England, who had granted him land in 1769 as part of his claim to North America. Over time, Californians began traveling westward and discovered what they believed to be an uninhabited landmass known as Nevada. In 1859, when United States President James K. Polk sent American forces into California to suppress a Mexican uprising, General José Joaquín Bueno discovered Calexico and claimed it for the United States. This event is often referred to as Bueno’s Conquest or Mexican-American War because it marks the beginning of American dominance over California and its people. The town of Calexico was founded on April 12, 1858 by a group of Anglo Americans including Captain Edwin Fenton and Colonel Robert Eads with help from Native Americans including the Tongva tribe. The town prospered based on trade with surrounding Rancho Santa Ana and Needles ranches for goods such as hides, woolens, grain, livestock, cheese and wine. By 1861, however, hostilities between Mexico and America had escalated into a full-blown war known as The Civil War (1861-1865). As a result of this conflict, many residents left Calexico for safer areas such as Stockton or Sacramento due to fear for their lives. On October 10th 1862 Generalordered Major General Pio Pico to march southward from central California through San Bernardino Valley in order to cut offsupplies reaching Mexico City from northern California while also battling Confederate forces operating in nearby Mono Lake region known as Midway Point National Monument
Calexico was founded in 1848 by Juan Calexico and his father, José Calexico. The original name for the town was Negresco. The first post office in the community was established in 1851. In 1862, a school was built, and in 1865 a dispensary was started. In 1868, a canal system was built to transportation goods and passengers between the Imperial Valley and San Francisco Bay. In 1870, the population of Calexico reached 1,500 people. The American Civil War began in 1861 and ended with the surrender of General John Brougham at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865. After the war ended, many businesses were destroyed by fire or takeover by Unionists looking to rebuild after their losses.
