In the early 1800s, Calexico was a small town located in central California. It was known for its annual rifle and shotgun shooting contests which were attended by local farmers and ranchers. These contests allowed for residents to test their firearms and make sure they were of the best quality. One of the most famous events in Calexico’s history was the Gun Show which took place in 1903. At this event, attendees could purchase any type of firearm they wanted including pistols, shotguns, rifles, and many more. The Gun Show is also said to have been the first time that ammunition was sold at a gun show. This event helped to spread awareness about firearms and help to create a sense of community among these people.

The first firearms ever made in Calexico, California were pistols. In 1876, the first store in town, called The Pistolsmiths Arms and Ammunition Store was started by two men named George W. Smith and John P. Reid. The store was located on 2nd Street near the present day Los Angeles County Courthouse Square. It was open for business from 6am to 10pm. In 1881, a gun shop called The Gunsmiths opened up on 3rd Street next door to the Pistolsmiths Arms and Ammunition Store. It remained in business until 1903 when it burned down.
Calexico, California is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 102,819 at the 2010 census. It is the 8th largest city in San Diego County and the most populous city within the boundaries of the City of San Diego. The history of Calexico goes back to 1853 when it was founded as part of Rancho Santa Fe de los Padres by Antonio Vallejo and his brother-in-law Juan Bautista Alvarado. The area now included in Calexico was part of Imperial Valley until 1912 when it became a separate county named after former President Theodore Roosevelt. In 1916, Calexico became an incorporated town under the jurisdiction of San Diego County while still remaining a part of Imperial Valley. The first post office opened in 1853 in what is now known as Old Town Calexico. The community's name came from Spanish cala (calf) because so many milk cows were raised hereabouts during that time period and because Mexicans used to call this area "Cali" which means "place where cattle are pastured." Calexico, California is located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. The community was founded in 1905 by a group of American veterans who were looking for a new home after their experiences in World War I. The name Calexico comes from the Spanish word calle, meaning street. The United States Postal Service established its first post office in Calexico on October 25, 1905. The town gradually grew and developed until it became an incorporated municipality on November 5, 1912. It was then renamed to Calexico City after Hidalgo County's first president, Agustín de la Calzada y Pavón. Calexico has been known for its citrus industry since at least 1912 when the first fruits were grown here. The fruit trees that are still standing today are some of the oldest and largest in the area. In 1938, Orange County moved to annex part of Calexico so that its population could reach 1 million people and with that increase came new development which now forms much of what makes up today's cityscape including many shopping malls and professional offices as well as several thousand homes built between 1938 and 1976 during post-World War II boom times when agriculture had become vital to the local economy. In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place within the confines of Mission Viejo - one such project being Arroyo Seco Parkway which connects downtown with residential neighborhoods northwest of downtown while also providing connectivity between Interstate 10/I-605 south and north; all this happening while Calexico remains largely intact as a small sleepy town just outside Los Angeles County limits
The Calexico area of California was first settled in the late 18th century by Mexican-born Americans. The name "Calexico" is derived from the Spanish words calle (street) and xico (a small stream). The town of Calexico, which is located in Southern California, began to grow rapidly after it was designated as a U.S. military base during World War II. Today, Calexico is a city with a population of over 100,000 people. The region that now includes Calexico was originally known as Rancho San Diego de Alcalá for the family who purchased it in 1799. In 1846, Mexico gained independence from Spain and renamed the area Californias "Rancho San Dieguito de Alcalá". The original settlers were Anglo-Mexican immigrants who arrived during the Mexican Revolution to work on American soil. Afterward, many more Anglo-Mexican residents moved into the area to start new lives and businesses.
