On-Line continued serving students until January 3rd 1969 when it merged with Simi Valley Unified School District #2 which closed down after 54 years education provision for Calabasas students! During World War II both the United States Naval Air Station Northrop Field (later CAF Point Mugu) and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton were established within easy reach of downtown CalABasa thanks largely to efforts by Mayor Harry Cohen who solicited donations from local businesses wanting their facilities used during wartime activities such as bombing raids against Japan or training exercises with American Marines at Point Mugu airfield supervised by NavyLieutenant Commander Clarence King USN .
