In 1870s two brothers named George and Peter Guggenheim bought additional parcels totaling 2,000 acres (8 km2). They founded an agricultural society that became known as Rancho La Brea which grew crops such as grapes, onions and almonds until 1912 when it became part of the City of Los Angeles through annexation by LA. In 1905 Pasadena annexing adjacent lands led to a new development called Westside which at its peak had over 100 housing developments including Hollywood Hills with its own post office and theaters; Vinegar Hill with its popular vineyards; Highland Park with mansions built on open space along Larkspur Boulevard; Boyle Heights with churches and schools; Midtown with luxury hotels such as the Standard Oil Building; Echo Park with horses grazing on private property near Dodger Stadium; Arcadia with residences overlooking Griffith Park and Topanga Canyon

In 1887, John Burbank donated land to make Burbank a town and laid out its streets according to Uptown Grid plan which remain in use today. He also founded El Capitan Theatre Company which staged plays until 1931 and built the first movie theater downtown in 1911 called the Regal Theater which still exists as an art house cinema today known as AMC Pacific Palisades Stadium 16 theatres across two levels with attached cinemas for overflow seating for events such as Lakers games or film festivals etc., making it one of largest movie theaters in North America at that time! Today Burbank has many industries including Manufacturing (elastomer products), Retail trade (grocery stores/convenience stores/gas stations), Professional services (lawyers/accountants/medical professionals), Health care (hospitals/ clinics).
