Buena Park, California is a city located in Orange County, California. The population was 25,812 as of 2010. It is the second most populous city in Orange County after Irvine. The city was founded by Mexican Americans and Englishmen who came to the area during the 1860s and 1870s. Ammunition manufacturing began at Buena Park in 1876 and continued until World War I. After that, ammunition production passed into private hands and ended altogether in the 1920s. In 1945, Buena Park became an incorporated municipality under the name of Los Angeles City Limits. Today, ammunition manufacturing recommences here with small-scale operations taking place throughout the city limits including at two plants run by Browning and Hornady within walking distance of each other. Ammunition production resumed outside of Los Angeles proper beginning in 1984 when a new plant opened near downtown LAX called Ammunition Valley LLC.

Buena Park is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 83,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Diego–Tijuana metropolitan area. The original town site was an agricultural community on the banks of Mission Bay and its growth as a city took place primarily due to its location as an important military base during World War II. Buena Park's current boundaries were first established in 1907 when it annexed parts of El Cajon and La Jolla municipalities. The name "Buena Park" originated from what is now known as Mission Bayou (or Boca del Rio). Spanish settlers named it San Pedro de las Palmas because of its sheltered harbor at that point on the bay. In 1847, Captain Fernando Rivera commanded a squadron of about 20 ships anchored off shore near present-day Buena Park fording the bay and naming the spot Los Angeles en la Bocacin (LA = Place where there are many Gooseberries). Rivera's party also founded Rancho La Brea across from downtown Los Angeles on November 3, 1847 by Yaqui Indian leader Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. At that time, Mission Bayou formed much of what is today Buena Park Avenue and most of what is now downtown El Cajon grew out of ranching operations along those maritime routes. During World War II, Buena Park became one of America's leading military bases with access to all types of munitions including radar technology which helped make naval warfare more accurate. The city also played host to large scale events such as the 1944 Carrera Superbike race which attracted over 100,000 visitors and served as a model for other major racing events held throughout California; these included Formula One races at Mid-America Raceway in Pomona (now Agua Dulce) in 1951 and 1968; motocross at Thunderhill Raceway; golf at Torrey Pines Golf Course; surfing waves off Point Loma beach; water skiing at Ocean Beach Resort; skateboarding at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater ; drag racing down Callejon Street
