In 1957-59 two additional high schools – Western Branch High School (now West Valley Middle School) and Parkview Junior/Senior High School – were built within boundaries of Brawley; these developments helped contribute to continued growth within the community over ensuing decades until current day.

The first post office was established in Brawley in 1870, and the first store opened in 1871. In 1881, the town had a population of twenty-six people. In 1907, the town had a population of seventy-five people. The first school opened in Brawley on April 4, 1870. It was called the Indian School and served grades one through eight until it closed in 1903. A new school was built on October 1, 1907, and it served grades nine through twelve until it closed in 1951. In 1950, the town voted to merge with neighboring unincorporated territory to form what is now Redlands County.
