The town was founded by John Sutter and his brother, Samuel Sutter, who purchased land east of Pasadena for $1 per acre. The brothers developed a agricultural business that produced hay, straw, and cattle. In 1896, they established an ammunition company to produce gunpowder and other munitions. The company grew rapidly under the leadership of John Sutter II and his son John Sutter III. Over time, they introduced new products such as rifle rounds (1902), pistols (1903), shotguns (1907), antitank shells (1909), hand grenades (1920s-1950s), and rockets (1960s). In 1957, John Sutter III passed away; his son became CEO and continued their legacy until 2011 when he succeeded his father as CEO. The company is now part of King International Group Inc., a global conglomerate headquartered in London. Beverly Hills has been home to ammunition manufacturers for over 100 years. In 1945, Trump sold the grotto to Philadelphia-based Claiborne Hotel heir John Diller for $35 million. Today, Neptune's Grotto remains a popular tourist destination with events such as weddings and family reunions taking place there. The city of Beverly Hills was founded on November 3rd 1887 by three friends: oil tycoon Leonard Jerome Stiles IV (1863-1947), banker Harry Chandler (1872-1941) and philanthropist George Foster Peabody (1862-1950). They met when they were working together on a shipping line from Panama to China that ended up going bankrupt. The trio put their money into real estate development – purchasing land at various locations including Canoga Park (then called San Gabriel Highlands), Exposition Park (now University Plaza), Van Nuys Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard – eventually forming the nucleus of what would become Beverly Hills proper. Over time Beverly Hilton became one of Hollywood's most prestigious addresses; hosting stars like Greta Garbo, Errol Flynn and Clark Gable during their early years in Tinseltown; while also being home to some of Hollywood's more notorious residents such as mobster Bugsy Siegel and playboy impresario Sam Giancana. The ever expanding city came to be known for its lavish lifestyle – featuring high classes living in mansions alongside working class citizens; often enjoying views of either Pacific Ocean or Central Park which gave rise to the moniker "The City Of Angels". During World War II Paramount Pictures relocated its production facilities from Culver City to Burbank due to lack of available land within L.A.; however studio operations continued at Paramount until 1948 when it merged with Warner Bros.. This left Beverly Hills as an enclave surrounded by studios with no public transportation or amenities available other than private automobiles which made getting around difficult if not impossible even for those who could afford it–something that would continue throughout much of the postwar period culminating in Expo '64 when only a select few able-bodied people were allowed into downtown L.A.. Despite this limitations Beverly Hills experienced rapid growth through annexation by neighbouring neighborhoods beginning in the late 1950s followed by further subdivision over ensuing decades leading ultimately to its current size today incorporating nearly all of Los Angeles County outside of Downtown LOS ANGELES
