Gun lights have been a part of Benicia, California history for more than a century. The first recorded use of gun lights in Benicia was on November 1, 1892. At that time, the city used horse and carriage headlights to signal drivers when they could stop. firearms were not legal in Benicia until 1911. That year, an ordinance went into effect banning handguns from the city limits. However, this ordinance did not take effect because it was repealed by the City Council one year later. The first real sign of gun lightusage in Benicia came about 1903 when two men were arrested for shooting at a group of children playing near Seventh Street and Market Street. One man who was driving the car carrying the arresting officers had his foot on the gas pedal while he watched as both men shot at the children with pistols while they played. This event is considered to be the beginning of gun lightusage in Benicia. In 1909, another ordinance went into effect outlawing handguns completely withinBenicia limits. However, this ordinance also did not take effect because it was repealed by council one year later again. In 1912, Amendment XIV to state Constitution granted citizenslicensing powersto carry concealed handguns without prior registration or proof of insurance either with or without weapons license if owner(s) is 21 years or older and insured with $500 per occurrence plus damages up to $1,000 whichever is greater

Benicia is a city located in Contra Costa County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 59,031. Benicia was founded on December 3, 1853 by Captain John C. Fremont and his fellow soldiers at the forks of the Saratoga and San Joaquin Rivers as an unincorporated community named after Fort Benicia on what is now State Route 1. The name "Benicia" was derived from Spanish Mission San Francisco de la Trinidad (present-day Santa Clara), which was built in 1776 by Franciscan missionaries under Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. After Mexican independence from Spain was announced in 1821, General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered all malemissionaries to leave Mexican territory without losing their privileges or property; this forced manymissionaries to move to Independence Square near downtown Pasadena for safekeeping. The first post office called Benicia opened in 1854 and remained open until it closed in 1916. In 1875, the Chabot family donated 10 lots surrounding their farmstead for use as a town square; this became known as Gabilan Park after Hiram Maxim who ran a printing press there in the early 19th century. It became an incorporated municipality on December 3, 1906 following passage of legislation by then- mayor Pio Diaz that granted voting rights to Unincorporated Areas within Contra Costa County with a population over 5500 residents. With growth in tourism and commuting to larger cities during World War II (1939-1945) and related suburban sprawl (following major freeway construction throughout Contra Costa County between 1940 and 1960), Benicia began to experience rapid growth and decline culminating with its incorporation into City Hall District No. 2 on November 15, 1980 through Measure B popularly voted by citizens via parcel ballot. On July 14, 2017 Mayor Sam Liccardo announced that he would not seek re-election due to health concerns

Benicia is a small town in San Joaquin County, California, located on the banks of the Sacramento River. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census. Benicia is the seat of San Joaquin County. It is part of the Fresno-Madera-Pasadena Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Benicia was Manuel Nieto on October 16, 1769, who named it "Nueva Vizcaya" after his home province of Valencia, Spain. A post office called Benicia was established in 1847 and remained in operation until 1888. The town's name derives from José Benítez de la Sierra y los Reyes (1755–1824), an early settler and congressman who served as mayor of Los Angeles from 1822 to 1830; and José Gomez de Herrera (1812–1881), another early settler and congressman who represented Benicia in both houses of Congress from 1846 to 1850. A sawmill founded by Antonio Cano near what is now downtown Benicia was one of the earliest mills in California and became a major center for lumber production during the late 19th century. In 1851, John Sutter started a cotton gin here that became one of the largest cotton gins west of Mexico City. Grain production also began to increase after railroads came through town in 1865 starting up transportation routes between markets all over America. By 1880, nearly all aspects of local economy had been eclipsed by ranching and logging operations due to new land grants opening up across Central Valley which were especially productive due to their fertile soils and lack thereof Floods caused by heavy rains throughout 1915 destroyed most homes but not all businesses so there still remain some evidence including several restored buildings around Main Street where once stood five large barns housing fifty or more horses each! During World War II defense industry shifted its focus towards aircraft production which built many barracks here while other industries such as shipbuilding moved into nearby towns such as Livermore or Milpitas with similar infrastructure projects completed during that time period For a time it seemed like everything would stay same but then technology changed with Silicon Valley spawning companies such as Apple Incorporated followed by Google parent company Alphabet Incorporation moving their headquarters here later when they acquired YouTube Red From Google Fiber services originally offered here
