On October 24 of that year, Mayor John Pritchard declared that there would be a town meeting to approve the name and make it official on November 1st. The first post office for Belmont opened in 1881 with A.W. Wiegand as its first employee (the current post office building was built in 1923). In 1886, James McAteer organized a football team which played against other towns in what is now known as the Central Valley Football League (CVFL). In 1893 they moved to Riverside where they became champions again in 1895 before moving back to Belmont where they played their final game on October 12th of that same year against Simi Valley RFC It wasn't until 1906 when Belmont hosted their second ever varsity football game when they squared off against Saugus High School The following year saw them win their third championship by defeating Gilroy High School 31-0 They also won their fourth championship by defeating Simi Valley RFC 36-0

Belmont is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 23,060 at the 2010 census. It is part of the downtown San Bernardino area. The first known inhabitants of Belmont were the Gabrielino people. The mission founded by José de la Cruz y Costilla in 1821 served as a center for missions and cattle ranching in what is now western Riverside County. In 1864, General John Sutter established his new settlement of Stockton east of today's Belmont along the then-new San Andreas Fault line. By 1870, most of present day Riverside County had been designated within San Bernardino County and Belmont became an enclave within that county on July 14, 1871 when it was given city status from Stockton according to its own charter granted by then-County Commissioner James Hahn. In 1912 Stanislaus National Forest was created northeast of town and included much of what is now eastern Riverside County including parts of today's Belmont. In 1924 City Council voted to annex portions of present day Compton to form a new city limits extension into Stanislaus National Forest as well as extending annexation rights toEncinitas and Murrieta also southward into San Bernardino County for eventual incorporation into their new city limits when those areas became reforested following World War II. On November 3, 1970, voters approved passage by voters of Proposition 13 which introduced Californian Section 8 land use regulations which limited total housing units (of any type) in certain geographic areas to no more than 30% of all units statewide while increasing allowable unit sizes up to 95%. This limit applied only to cities with populations over 10,000 residents; villages could continue to build up until they reached this limit but were required to seek voter approval before doing so). As a result many small towns and rural counties throughout California lost their ability directly or indirectly to provide services such as water transmission or libraries through annexation into larger cities like Los Angeles or Sacramento; instead these services were provided either through agreements with larger municipalities or outright purchases from those municipalities by larger districts like LAUSD or the City College Districts (CCDs).
