It is home to Monterey County Museum and Park and Belmont Army Depot, where rifles were once manufactured. The arsenal was built in 1907 by Major General John B. The original building still stands today as a historical landmark adjacent to Main Street in town: it has been modified only slightly over time (most notably adding an observation deck). In 1905 when most western US communities had their own radio stations serving their populations directly rather than through longdistance services operated by major companies like AT&T & Western Union, Belmont joined with other villages around Fresno County served by KRQE (now KQED) AM broadcasting from classes A through D FM frequencies (139.3 MHz), providing citizens with information and music programming primarily during daytime hours Monday through Friday; overnight programs were aired on weekends and holidays when desired by residents living elsewhere within our county or outside its borders! KRQE remains one of this community's longest continuous licensed broadcasters with full broadcast rights up to age 75 years! The station continued airing Saturday morning newscasts into the late 1970s prior to affiliating with KCBS-TV Channel 5 Berkeley which then took over that programing commitment; however eventually KRQE switched back to Saturday morning newscasts once again prior to affiliation with KTLA Channel 7 LA which then took over that responsibility starting September 6th 1984 after KLAS acquired all UHF airwaves from KQED including signal overlap for local entertainment purposes! KRQE continues airing Saturday morning newscasts currently as a secondaryfill program on both channel 7(KLAS) & 8(KCBS) throughout Southern CA under license from CBS Radio division] .

The first post office was established in Belmont on May 1, 1875. In 1886, the Central Pacific Railroad reached Belmont and began to build a line from Sacramento to San Francisco. The town quickly grew and developed into a major agricultural center with several large grocery stores and markets as well as several small businesses. By the early 1920s, however, the town's growth had slowed due to the Great Depression and World War II. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Belmont experienced a period of rapid growth as it became one of the most important sites for aerospace research in Northern California.
