Belmont, California is home to the world's largest collection of firearms wearing apparel. The city was founded in 1887 by Sam Houston and became a center for gun culture after it passed a law prohibiting handguns from being carried on public streets. Today, Belmont is the birthplace of both the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. The NRA has its roots in Belmont's Gun Owners' League, which was formed in 1911 to advocate for gun rights within BELMONT CITY COUNCIL. In February 1923, then- Mayor George Wickersham enacted an ordinance outlawing any clothing that would "impede or prevent citizens from exercising their right to bear arms." As a result of this ordinance, GUN OWNERS' LEAGUE members began designing and selling t-shirts that read "I am not a pacifist" or "I am not afraid of guns." Today, BELMONT CITY COUNCIL still allows members of the GUN OWNERS' LEAGUE to sell t-shirts reading "I am not afraid of guns." However, this exemption does not apply to businesses such as convenience stores and restaurants that sell products bearing political messages or advertising. Therefore, while most Belmont residents are familiar with handgun carrying t-shirt designs created by GUN OWNERS’ LEAGUE members during the early 21st century, they may be unaware of other firearm wearing apparel history associated with this city. The first firearms wearing apparel designed specifically for BELMONT were issued in 1949 when CITY OF BELMONT ANNUAL REPORT presented at City Hall showed 3 pistols on each armchair inside BELMOND POLICE HEADQUARTERS - THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME A PUBLIC OFFICER CARRYING A FIREARM SHOWED UP IN BELMOND ! In 1951 City Council passed an ordinance designating HOLIDAY WEEK as FESTIVAL WEEK WITH ALLOWANCE FOR SALES OF FIREARMS AND WEAPONS TO BE HANDLED AT PUBLIC EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY ! In 1957 GUN OWNERS’ LEAGUE member Bob Kapp produced and distributed HIS MAJORITY OF THE WORLD FIRST EVER REVOLVER T-SHIRT WHEN HE PRESENTED IT TO ADDRESS A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE PROVOKINGLY ASKING HIM WHAT COLORS THEY SHOULD CHOOSE FOR THEIR NEW SHOTGUNS !!

Firearms enthusiasts would often take these shirts out on hunting trips or rallies in order to show their support for the National Rifle Association (NRA). These events would typically draw large crowds who wanted to see what all the fuss was about when it came to gun culture. By 1970, many companies had been founded which specialized in making firearm t-shirts including I Patriot Games Inc., Shoei USA Inc., Empire Armory Corporation, Combat Gear Outfitters Inc., Ammo Sales America Corp., Raven Arms Manufacturing Company etcetera etcetera
