It was founded in 1887 by brothers John and James Belmont and is home to the oldest continuously operating ammunition plant in the United States. The plant produces 7x57mm NATO (.308 Winchester) rifle rounds as well as other types of rounds for various firearms. Ammunition production has continued at the plant into the 21st century and Belmont remains one of America's leading ammunition producers.

Belmont is a small town in Contra Costa County, California. It is located on the eastern edge of San Francisco Bay and has a population of about 25,000. The name "Belmont" was given to it by Commodore John D. Stockton who settled there in 1849. Belmont began as an agricultural community with livestock, land grant homesteads, and fruit orchards. It became a bustling commercial center with mills and workshops that manufactured goods such as flour, clothing, oilcloth, bricks and tiles. The town's population rapidly grew during the late 19th century as new industries emerged: sugar beet processing plants came to Belmont in the early 20th century; shipyards made munitions for World War II; and auto manufacturing centers sprang up throughout the area during the postwar boom years. The post-war period saw layoffs and shrinking populations as job losses spread from industry to service sectors such as insurance and banking. By 1970 Belmont had shrunk to its current size of 20 households with 5 businesses employing less than 50 workers. However, over recent decades Belmont has seen steady growth thanks to its unique location: within walking distance of several major shopping areas including Fisherman's Wharf and City Center; access to public transportation which makes commuting easy; winegrowing operations focused around two wineries (Longo Vineyards & Robert Mondavi Winery); upscale housing developments that have attracted high-end professionals and families; and resurgent interest in traditional agriculture – evident through increased production at local farmers markets – which has supported local jobs in agricultural maintenance while also boosting economic development."

Belmont is located in southeastern Santa Clara County on the San Francisco Peninsula between San Jose and Daly City. It is bordered by Fremont to the north and east; Rocklin to the south; Palo Alto to the west; Menlo Park to the northwest; and Sunnyvale to the southwest. According tothe USGS, Belmont has an elevation of 612 feet (190 m). The history ofbelmont begins with John S.Belmond who settled here in 1887 AD when he purchased 4 acres of land for $2 per acre from Jaelichert Beale Sr., one of Silicon Valley’s earliest settlers In 1905 John Sbelmond donated another 2 acres which made up what is now Lakeshore Shopping Center In 1916 he donated 5 more acres for a new post office which would serve all of his properties including Lakeshore Shopping Center In 1918 he also gave away 100 acres of his property which would become known as Northshore Ranch And finally in 1923 he gifted another 100 acres that would become known as Southshore Ranch today . Today there are over 200 parcels that make up our community name “Belmont” John Sbelmond passed away on May 1st 1984 but his namesake still live here with us taking care of our properties and businesses
