The city was founded in 1852 by a group of men who traveled to central California to find new land for their ranching operation. They were looking for a place where they could refine their cattle and sheep products, and where they could sell guns made in nearby Stockton. The first weapons that the men brought back from their travels were rifles and shotguns. But it wasn’t until 1856 that Bellflower residents started manufacturing their own Firearms – the first commercially successful company in the city. Over time, many other businesses followed suit, catering to both consumers and gunmakers alike. Ammunition production continued to grow throughout the 19th century; even during World War I, when munitions demand decreased sharply because of military conflicts around the world, Bellflower residents still produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition per day! In 1925, Bellflower became one of just four cities in California granted municipal status (a form of local government). This gave the city authority to regulate firearms and ammunition sales within its boundaries. In 1957, Mayor Tom Bradley authorizedBellflower’s first “gun show”; an event which helped promote gun ownership among local citizens as well as provide them with access to new handguns and ammo products! Today, Bellflower is home to more than 20 retail stores carrying everything from hunting rifles to pistols – all legally purchased through its municipal authorities!

Bellflower, California is a small town located in Inyo County, southern California. The population was 5,258 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Inyo County and home to the Bellflower Museum and Library. The town was founded in 1872 by George Waugh as Bellefontaine. At that time, it was a small settlement on the eastern edge of what is now Kings Canyon National Park. Bellefontaine quickly became an important stop on wagon trains heading westward from San Francisco across the Sierra Nevada Mountains. By 1875, Bellefontaine had become one of several settlements along the tracks near modern-day Geyserville. By 1880, Bellefontaine had been renamed for John Wesley Eldredge (1825-1912), who served as USGS Surveyor General for Inyo County from 1865 to 1883 and president of University of California at Berkeley from 1887 to 1893. Eldredge also helped found Friends Meeting House in Bellefontaine in 1882 and built it into a historic structure which still stands today. During World War II, Bellflower played an important role as an Army Air Forces bomber station during what is now known as The Battle of Mt Whitney National Park. From 1942 until 1945, Bellflower was also home to Riverside Air Force Base which operated two bombardment ranges: Red Mountain 1B and Green Mountain 1A
