The Bell Gardens, California gun swivels were a type of holster device that was used in the mid-19th century. The device allowed the user to rotate their pistol so that it faced inwards or outwards, depending on the direction they were shooting. This made it easier for shooters to aim and provide more accuracy when firing. The devices were first developed in 1847 by Captain John C. Fremont and his team of engineers while working on improvements to artillery ammunition. They named the invention "the swivel holster." The Bell Gardens Gun Swivel became popular among American soldiers during the Mexican-American War (1846-1848). During the Civil War (1861-1865), many Confederate soldiers relied on revolver holsters designed by Major John Millingen of Richmond, Virginia as part of their armament. However, these holsters did not work well with pistols that had fixed sights because they could not be rotated around the frame like pistols with adjustable sights could be. In 1865, Colonel William Jenson of Fort Snelling in Minneapolis patented a design for a pistol holster called the "Jenson Holster." These holsters incorporated a pivoting system that allowed pistols to be rotated about their frames without having to remove them from their armsholes. John Browning also created a handgun holster using this same system which he called his " adjustable swivel holster." This holster was also patented in 1865 and became popular among Union troops during the American Civil War (1861- 1865). After World War II ended, many Americans began using handguns equipped with aftermarket swivel ammo carriers which allowed these guns to be switched between right and left hand held orientations without having to remove them from their armsholes. Today, most people use handguns equipped with articulating stocks which allow them to rotate their barrels around 90 degrees in any direction within reason without having to remove them from their armsholes.

Industry has disappeared or moved away since World War II but Bell Gardens retains a strong aerospace presence with six aircraft companies located within its boundaries: McDonnell Douglas Aviation (formerly Pratt & Whitney), Boeing Co., Northrop Grumman AG (formerly Lockheed Martin), Raytheon Co., Sierra Nevada Corporation (now Tesla) and ATK Defense Solutions Incorporated (formerly Hughes Aircraft). Airlines based at LAX airport also provide passenger service to Bell Gardens residents through AirTran Airways Inc., Allegiant Airlines Holdings LP, American Airlines Group LP etc.; taxi services are provided by Juno Limousine Service Incorporated; dog walking services by Dog Walking On Wheels; cycling is available on bicycles rental facilities throughout downtown Bell Gardens; tennis is offered at James Haughton Recreation Center; golf courses are available near downtown Bell Gardens as well as Laughlin Ranch Golf Course adjacent to Highway 101 south of town; water skiing can be found at The Lakes Waterpark just outside town limits

Bell Gardens is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 38,827 at the 2010 census. It is adjacent to Downtown LA on the east, and to the Miracle Mile on the west. The Bell Gardens area started out as part of Hawthorne Heights and was named for Dr. J.C. Whitehead, who founded what is now Hawthorne Hospital in 1887. The original land was located near today's 95th Street and Spring Avenue intersection. The first white settler in what is now Bell Gardens was James Braidwood, who arrived in 1884 from Australia with his family. He built a small cabin on what is now 97th Street between San Pedro Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard; it remains standing today as a memorial to him and his wife Eliza (née Hennessey). After years of growth within Hawthorne Heights, efforts were made by Mayor Harry Gilligan in 1907 to annex or purchase additional acreage northeast of present-day Bell Gardens so thatBell could become an incorporated townsperson under state law; but no action was taken until 1919 when annexation became legal because then-Governor Woodrow Wilson designated Hawthorne Heights as one community within Los Angeles County instead of four separate districts which were intended for Anglo populations only In 1926, following the death of Mayor Harry Gilligan and City Councilman William Fenton Welch (both Democrats), new City Hall was built at 5451 North Figueroa Street – annexing much of what is now downtown LA primarily due to land acquisition through condemnation proceedings begun during World War II . This move led directly to increased development along Figueroa Street such as Mulholland Drive which ran parallel north-south before splitting off into its current alignment south of Hollywood Blvd., becoming one major freeway corridor in suburban Southern California In 1949 Measure R passed by voters authorizing annexation by Bell Gardens making it an official city with its own police department (the precursor to LAPD) while still remaining under county jurisdiction; although annexed by LA County this designation has been nullified several times since due various court rulings pertaining to county rights including three revocations granted by then-County Attorney Gil Garcetti after Measure R's passage) In 1959 City Councilwoman Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis moved into her childhood home vacated when her mother became Mrs Kennedy – she also bought 4 acres adjoining her house for public use known today as Jackie Park On October 15, 1960– almost sixty years after incorporation–Bell Gardens celebrated its centennial birthday with a large celebration attended by local dignitaries including Mayor Stanley Levy and Beverly Hills Mayor John Seward IV + many other luminaries from throughout Southern California
Bell Gardens was a small town in San Bernardino County, California, just south of downtown Los Angeles. It was founded in 1887 as part of the Rancho Cucamonga land grant given to José Joaquín Moraga and his wife Maria Antonia García. The Moragas moved to Bell Gardens in 1888 and initial development focused on grows grapes for wine production. In 1903, the Moragas bought a section of what is now Hollywood Boulevard from William H. Macy and built a mansion there which they called "The Hollywood Palace". In 1917, the army constructed Fort Bliss near Bell Gardens as part of World War I defense preparations. The fort served as an artillery range used by the 9th Infantry Regiment until it was closed down in 1923. In 1926, the Moragas sold their Hollywood Palace to movie moguls Harry and Esther Lasky who turned it into a movie palace known as The Beverly Hillbillies House. The house survived until 1957 when it burned down with all its contents inside. After the fire, many of Bell Gardens' citizens fled to Southern California because of Price's violence against African-Americans living in Los Angeles at that time. Prices died in prison after being tried for Murder One (1929) but his death did not stop Price's campaign against black people living within Los Angeles limits – he still remains uncharged to this day despite new evidence suggesting he killed more than 100 people during that period
