Bell Gardens, California is a city located in San Diego County, California. The population was 83,592 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the United States and has a large Spanish-speaking population. The city was founded by Italian Americans in 1881 as part of the San Diego area. The name comes from two ancient Indian words: "belle" meaning beautiful and "gardens" meaning gardens or parklands. The first European settlers arrived in 1821 when José Garza founded Rancho San Pasqual de los Llano Mexican land grant near present day Bell Gardens. In 1882, Antonio Moreno purchased some 640 acres (248 hectares) east of present-day Bell Gardens from Garza for $8 per acre ($225 per hectare). Over time Moreno developed this land into what we now know as Bell Gardens with his family running it as a agricultural oasis on a hilly peninsula surrounded by marshland and bayous. By 1905, when streetcars reached Bell Gardens through downtown San Diego, Moreno's garden had become an important center for social life and culture within the struggling community surrounding him. In 1907 he donated over 2 million plants to various botanical gardens throughout North America including New York’s Madison Square Garden where they still grow today! During World War II many American servicemen came to live and work in Bell Gardens which became known as "the war town". Many of these servicemen were stationed at Naval Station Balboa Park which sat on part of what is now Don Julio Drive south of Interstate 5án Avenue between Sepulveda Boulevard and I-5án Avenue NE during World War II before it moved to its current location adjacent to Mission Bay during the post-war years. After Pearl Harbor Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 many JapaneseAmericans living along I-5án Avenue NE were rounded up and detained without legal process or due process under Sections 8(a) through 8(d) of Executive Order 9066 which allowed for military interrogations without charges or trial except as provided by law – see also “ internment camps” below In 1945 after Liberation many people who had been rounded up during World War II returned to their homes within days On July 25th 1947 Drs racial studies class at Hawthorne Elementary School experienced very loud explosion that destroyed building; no injuries reported

Bell Gardens, California is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California. It is located on the east side of Bellflower Boulevard and was founded in 1915 by industrialist Cyrus S. Vance. The name "Bell Gardens" comes from two American rivers: the Santa Monica River and the Pacific Ocean. The area was originally part of Ventura County and was annexed into Los Angeles County in 1921. In 1950, it became one of the first areas to be developed as a result of Expo '50, with large tracts being purchased along Bellflower Boulevard. The development has continued through the years with many new homes being built and also an amusement park called Miraval which opened in 1962
The Bell Gardens neighborhood was first developed in the 1880s as part of commercial areas near Los Angeles. The area became a popular tourist spot after being featured in films such as "Gone with the Wind" and "The Front Page". In 1915, the city of Los Angeles annexed the Bell Gardens neighborhood and renamed it for inventor Alexander Graham Bell. In 1949, the Bell family donated land to make way for a new school district in exchange for an endowment from their estate. The new School District of Greater Los Angeles opened in 1951 and absorbed much of theBell Gardens area including portions of Hollywood Hills. Today, parts of Bell Gardens are home to several high-end neighborhoods such as Beverly Hills and Bel Air.
