The population of Banning increased rapidly after World War II when many people moved to coastal towns due to improved living conditions and new maritime shipping routes opening up during that time period. In 1951, Banning had a population of 1,500 people and by 1957 it had reached 2,000 people. By 1975 it had increased to 3,000 people with most of its growth coming from developing inland areas such as North Hollywood and Lake Forest Park which were annexed into BanNING in 1978. In recent years much development has occurred at BanNING including several high-rise condominiums being built on top of former military facilities nearby as well as plans to create an arts district specifically for BanNING with music venues/theater combos existing near famed Playland Park located just east of town center within walking distance for all sorts of activities including cultural events throughout the year eruptions happen regularly along various beaches adjacent to town center providing some level security
