Baldwin Park is a small city located in Inland Empire, California. It was founded in 1887 by Judge John H. Baldwin and his wife, Julia Pemberton Baldwin. The City of Baldwin Park was first incorporated on March 24, 1888. The City of Baldwin Park merged with the city of Industry on January 1, 1959 to form the current city. The history of Baldwin Park begins with Judge John H. Baldwin who purchased land near what is now Downtown Industry in 1887 for $1,000. He named his new town after his daughter Julia Pemberton Baldwin and their son John H., Jr.. The initial population of just under 100 people lived in small country houses scattered around the area now known as downtown. However, over time there grew an active business community that included several breweries and other businesses along with a large number of residents who worked in these businesses or were related to them. By 1912, when the population reached 300 people, Mayor Ambrose Clements recommended that the City build its own police department to keep pace with growing industry and commerce which had led to increased crime rates and traffic congestion throughout the city center. This recommendation was approved by voters in a referendum held that year and construction began on what is now Police Headquarters Building on West Third Street south of Interstate 10 within a year! In 1914 two mayors were elected at-large without party affiliation: James Smeaton from Republican Party (and future governor) and Harry Jaffe from Independent American Party (and future state senator). Both men desired to improve public transportation needs within their cities so they made it a major campaign promise during their campaigns for office; Mr. Smeaton built one of the first city buses while Mr. Jaffe erected one of the first light rail cars at nearby San Bernardino – both projects ultimately failed because money wasn't available until later years! By 1960 most manufacturing had left downtown Industry for newer suburbs such as El Segundo or Menlo Park but some high-tech companies still flourished including Hewlett-Packard which relocated its research staff from Palo Alto to Baldwin Park after World War II; Apple Incorporated moved its production headquarters from Cupertino to Menlo Park; Lockheed Martin moved production out east into San Mateo County; AEGon Corporation moved its plants into Riverside County; ABC Broadcasting Company consolidated all its stations across Southern California into one network operation – KABC/7 News – then founded five new radio networks across Southern California between 1948-1954 including ABC Radio Network America (the nation’s first all news radio network), KQED/5 Radio Los Angeles (the third largest independent FM station), KPBS/13 TVLA (the second largest independents TV station) and KHON2 Radio Honolulu (a local CBS affiliate). All told this created more than 2 million jobs statewide during those years! Today's economy has seen increased development outside downtown Industry as well as growth inside downtown where many heavy industry relics have been replaced by modern technology parks like Googleplex or Intel Place while other smaller companies have opened up space within larger buildings such as Dell Incorporated moving their Research & Development Department out west into Hawthorne Plaza Drive next door to Googleplex while also opening up shop inside Googleplex itself; Ford Motor Company has moved production operations from Dearborn Heights MI back into Michigan Township since 2000 while also expanding their presence online through Ford Online USA LLC.; Cisco Systems has opened up an entire campus consisting of 234 acres northgate Mallnear Manhatten AvenueinManhattan Beach CA where they are currently building 5 million square feet destined for use as an international research center focused on networking technologies
