Phelps of Philadelphia and they used oil lamps to light up the streets during the night. The first real firearms prohibition law in America was passed in 1892 in response to the Colorado Springs Massacre where six young people were killed with rifles that had been smuggled into America. This law required all guns sales to be through licensed dealers and created a new class of business owner- these were called “private individuals” who could possess only shotguns, handguns and rifle cartridges. In 1906, an ordinance was passed that allowed citizens to carry pistols without a permit as long as they had a license from their county sheriff. This law was repealed in 1911 because it didn't take into account the changing social landscape in Bakersfield which had become moregun-friendly since then. In 1932, Bakersfield became one of the few cities in California to pass an ordinance allowing opencarry of handguns without any permits or registration requirements. Gun lights began appearing on city streets starting around this time and gradually became popular among locals forrigorous nighttime visibility when hunting game or participating in amateur target shooting events. By the late 1920s, there were even some concession stands that sold gun light displays at night! The post-war boom led to rapid growth in employment opportunities for local residents and businesses; however, some environmental problems emerged from over-pumping groundwater by local farmers and industries into neighboring Vallejo River Basin

In 1903, William Ladd founded Ladd's Grain Mill which became one of the most important grain mills west of the Mississippi River. The mill closed its doors for good in 1916 but reopened again some years later as La Plata Mill In 1923, two brothers - Harry Fenton and Lew Herman - purchased Kappeler & Co., renamed it First National Bank of Bakersfield (FNBB), and made it one of the country's leading commercial banks In 1951 FNBB merged with Pacific Commercial Bankshares Company to form First American National Bank (FANB). During World War II FNBB served as a bank holding company providing support for munitions industry plants throughout California After the war ended, FNBB reorganized into five separate banks: First National Bank (now part of Wells Fargo); Northern Pacific Bankshares Company; Californian Bankshares Company; Southern Pacific Bankshares Company; and PlainsCapital Corporation before becoming an independent bank again effective January 1st 1956 . On July 16th 1957 First American National Bank opened its doors at 4500 MacArthur Boulevard with over $200 million worth of assets First American National Bank went through several name changes before finally settling upon their current moniker - BakersFIELD NATIONAL BANK - on November 14th 1990 On October 15th 2002 FDIC approved SYSTEM UPDATE No 05-016 pursuant to section 249a(b) OF THE UNITED STATES Banking Act Of 1934 AND FIRING ORDER NO 97-001 issued Pursuant To Sections 8(a)(1) thru (6) OF THE SECURITIES EXCHANGE ACT OF 1934
