With its gentle rolling hills and large lots for sale, Auburn quickly grew into one of northern California’s most desirable communities – not only because its people were friendly but also because itslocation made it easy access by goods seekers heading down Interstate 80 out beyond Berkeley or Fresno County." In 1915 when Measure H was put before voters to decide whether or not annexation by Los Angeles should take place due to concerns about water shortages caused by rapid population growth within city limits; they voted overwhelmingly against annexation resulting in 1,500 signatures needed prior to annexation proceedings begin formalllyfashioning themselves "Auburn annexed" becoming an incorporated city with full powers granted by statute rather than just village status like their predecessor had been since 1868! On November 2nd 1922 Magician Harry Houdini held his first performance at Masonic Temple Auditorium calling attention to newly formed "Auburn Athletic Association" which billed itself as "the world's oldest athletic association composed entirelyof students". That same year new City Hall was dedicated including gymnasium/auditorium/track/football field utilizing funds raised through sales tax levied on automobiles entering town Limits! On October 9th 1926 Mayor Robert Denton announced plans for construction Of A $5 million dollar City Hall Park which featured tennis courts, golf course & 500 seat auditorium built adjacent To current City Hall!!" They added: "…a five-story clocktower will be completed overlooking Downtown Square…" In 1933 they erected new City Hall Annexing Parkland Now called Municipal Stadium

Auburn became a state capital in 1889 and is now known as Sacramento. The entire area surrounding Auburn has been heavily populated by Asians since the early 1900s, with the majority of residents being Chinese who came to work on farms or mine mines in the area. The city of Auburn was originally built around an agricultural colony called White Sands Rancho de la Paloma which was located about six miles east of present-day Auburn on what is now I-5. The rancho consisted of over 100 acres including some hills that served as grazing lands for cows and horses, plus woodlands, ponds, and wells for irrigation purposes. In 1848 Jedediah Sherman acquired title to the white sand ridge running from today’s west side of I-5 south to today’s east side where he had discovered gold while exploring for land north of Los Angeles County. He named his new land “Auburn” after his home state of New York (the name was changed back to New York in 1898). Over time other settlers arrived in what is now Auburn from various parts of California such as San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California; many were men prospectors who left their families behind when they struck it rich digging coal or gold near Kingsbury Creek upriver from modern day Sacramento City.
