Today's downtown area was built up around four stories high aluminum cans filled with water that drained into two large reservoirs on either side of Main Street near where they currently stand today - providing drinking water for more than 100,000 residents while also allowing farmers access to irrigate their crops using surplus rain water runoff from surrounding hillsides. One interesting development related to Atwater's history took place just south of Third Street - a shopping mall called Home Depot which opened in 1988 as one result of a partnership between Home Depot Stores Inc., Southern California Edison Company and developer Bruce Ratner – later owned by Microsoft Corporation. ratner had been inspired by his visit to China several years earlier when he saw how people could use large quantities recycled materials – such as old computers – to build malls there instead of just building new buildings out from scratch like he had done in previous attempts in Taiwan or Japan .

The first post office at Atwater opened on January 1, 1865; it served as the only stop on stagecoach routes between Bakersfield and Fresno until1885 when a depot was built east of town along State Route 191. During World War II, many residents enlisted in the military to fight in various campaigns across North America including those against Japan which took place near Atwater from 1945-1946; these residents are also credited with helping lay down road infrastructure that still exists today including several arterial highways that run through downtown Asbury Park today due to their support during this time period for Project Santa Fe which ultimately created New Mexico’s capital city Albuquerque back then
Atwater is a small town in Kern County, California, located about halfway between Bakersfield and Palmdale. It was founded in 1887 by George Atwater and his family. The Atwaters ranchers grazed their land on the east side of the Siskiyou River, while the west side was developed for agriculture. The first post office at Atwater opened in 1888. In 1902, the name of the town was changed to honor John Siskiyou, an explorer who had explored parts of California north of Yosemite National Park. The first store in Atwater opened in 1903. In 1912, a school was built and named after Mrs. Mary Payson Smith. A cotton mill was built in 1918 but it closed soon after due to lack of traffic and competition from other mills in nearby towns such as Bakersfield and Palmdale. In 1925, a windmill was built near downtown Byersville by noted American turbine designer Jens Jensen to generate power for local homes and businesses. The mill continued operating until 1928 when it caught fire due to an over-load on the turbines; however, no one were injured as a result. In 1951, Anheuser Busch began production at the original cotton gin site northeast of downtown Byersville; this led to increased development around that area which eventually resulted in tore down many old buildings including the original cotton gin (now part of AnheuserBusch Brewery). In 1972, Atwater incorporated as an unincorporated community under state law following passage of Proposition 8 which banned gay marriage statewide within California
