There have been shootings in Atascadero, California dating back to 1873. The first Angeles National Rifle Association shooting took place on November 22nd of that year, when two men named George and John Herron shot at a game of banditry near the old adobe Presidio Mission. The first recorded use of rifle eye protection was in 1892 when an employee of the Atascadero Telegraph Company was shot by his co-workers while taking a break for lunch. This weapon was designed to reduce noise levels on horseback law enforcement operations and it proved successful in reducing accidents involving firearms during this time period as well as leading to increased efficiency in law enforcement operations across the county. In 1912 Atascadero Mayor Pancho Villa met with Attorney General Nicholas Murray Butler to discuss plans for gun control within the city limits postulated by Villa after his victory over Santa Clara County Sheriff Manuel Gomez atthe hands of Mexican soldiers at Insurgent Field on December 15th of that year. It was not until 1916 when City Councilman Harry Dosher introduced an ordinance regulating handguns within City Limits which passed 7-0 with only one dissenting vote cast by Councilman Jens Sorensen (later mayor). In 1919Mayor John Lennon announced plans for handgun registration although no action followed until 1924 when registration requirements were abandoned due to pressure from NRA lobbyists working against any regulation including background check legislation then being considered by the California State Legislature chaired by Governor James Cox (later Ulysses S Grant). Thereafter efforts throughout 1933-1935 failed miserably every time proposals were brought forward due to strong opposition from NRA lobbyists working against any type of regulation including universal background check legislation then being considered by both houses of state legislature chaired by Huey Long (now Ulysses S Grant)

Atascadero, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California. The population was 5,859 at the 2010 census and it is part of the San Joaquin Valley. Atascadero is located about 20 miles (30 km) northwest of Visalia and about 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Fresno. The name Atascadero means "farmstead on the right bank of the Aconcagua River." The first Europeans to visit Atascadero were Spanish traders who traveled through the area in 1769-1770. In 1821, General Mariano Cámpora's army passed through AtascadERO while en route to attack Monterey. Atascadero was founded by José Antonio Rodríguez de Mendoza y Rivera on July 12, 1847 as an agricultural community named El Salvador after his father Los Angeles County seat Salvador, Mexico. Mexican land grants were made available for purchase in 1848 from Governor Manuel Micheltorena. Ranchos were granted over time to individual farmers and ranchers. When Francisco Pacheco discovered gold near AtascadERO in 1851, he organized a group of miners and entrepreneurs to prospect for gold there. Over time, mines developed at Anaconda Creek, Hacienda La Purísima Concepción (now known as Chapultepec), Escobar Hill and other locations around AtascadERO including Cerrito del Oro (now known as San Miguel Acosta). In 1865 Hector Castro acquired title to 6 square miles (15 km²) east of present day Atascadero where he built Castro Barracks; later called Fort Wingate barracks before becoming Fort Bragg inside Camp Pendleton Army Base which became Naval Facilities Engineering Command Center Pacific Fleet Mainport Facility after World War II when that command moved ashore from Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base outside San Diego when that base was closed due to the war effort; current site is within Navy Yard - West Waterhouse District which opened in 1886 with extensive renovation including new construction of large ships magazine capable of holding 20 million rounds per minute during World War II Harbor Defense program; fortifications consisted primarily of earthworks with brick revetments supplemented by ditches around road intersections and along river banks Following World War II most installations closed or decommissioned but some continued until they were finally eliminated by fires or abandonment in 1970s: Electric Boat Company’s Shipbuilding Division – shipyards converted Morro Bay Naval Shipyard into electric boat building plant starting with USS Hornet(LPD-27), then USS Enterprise(CVN-65), USS John F Kennedy(CVN-76)}; Kaiser Aluminum Co.'s Factories - Kaiser Aluminum began production at their Temecula facility producing aluminum cans beginning with their first canning line in 1936 followed by a second line in 1938; these facilities also produced products such as Bakelite and cookware

Atascadero is a small town in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Atascadero River, about 25 miles (40 km) east of San Luis Obispo and 50 miles (80 km) south of Monterey. The first permanent people to live in what is now Atascadero were the Ohlone who built their village near what is now downtown Atascadero in 1776. The Hudsons arrived in 1821 and built a ranch on the riverbank just north of present-day downtown AtascadERO. In 1843, John C. Frémont explored and mapped much of California and named portions of San Luis Obispo County after his brothers--George Huxley Frémont and Isidore Hall Frémont--the discoverers of Yosemite National Park. In 1870, James Irvine bought 640 acres (248 ha) along the banks of the Atascadero River from David Sanger for $1 million dollars ($10 million current value). He began developing this land into a community called Irvine Ranch which would eventually encompass more than 180 square miles (468 sq km). The original villagers had to content themselves with products they grew or gathered themselves: maize, beans, onions, lilies—all farm produce at that time. They also raised chickens and pigs as well as hogs for meat; fishing was an important source of income too because there were no commercial fisheries in those days upstream from present-day AtascadERO. The city's namesake comes from José Francisco de la Cruz y Pacheco who visited Santa Barbara during 1793–94 while exploring southern California . Upon his return he reported finding "a great many places without inhabitants" including what appears to be today's downtown area around Mission Boulevard/State Street where he stopped for dinner on October 26th 1793 before continuing his journey northeastward across Santa Barbara county
