The current location of the Mount Wilson Observatory is one of the earliest locations to use scopes with mounts. In 1951, Atascadero High School's new gymnasium served as a testing ground for telescope equipment and eventually became home to many of the state's top telescopes. Atascadero is a small city located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The population was estimated to be around 60,000 people in 2010. It is known for its agriculture and wine industries. Atascadero has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. September averages over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and December lows hover around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. A highlight of the year for many residents is the Farmers' Market which takes place every Saturday morning from 9am-1pm on Main Street in downtown Atascadero. This market features local produce, cheese, eggs, breads, fruits, vegetables and more. There are also several Artisan Guild sales each month that provide unique opportunities to purchase art pieces from local artist families. Theatre performances take place at various locations throughout the year including Atascadero High School's theatre (known as "Theatre de la Mer") which seats up to 256 people; Andes Folklore Theatre; The Playhouse at Coyote Hills; and The Hub at Desert View Casino Resort & Spa. Scope mounts are devices that allow the attachment of a rifle scope to the barrel of a firearm. A variety of different mounting platforms have been created over the years, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The first Scope Mount was designed by George Barrett in 1911. It featured an integral Picatinny rail on one side and allowed for either Weaver or Mil-Spec rings to be attached to it. However, this mount was not very successful and was eventually replaced by the Barrett XM177E in 1945. The XM177E utilized a dovetail design which allowed for superior accuracy when shooting at long ranges. The mount also featured a detachable bipod which made it possible to tripod shoot firearms. In 1971, Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc., developed the Ruger SR9E/SR25 mount which features two Picatinny rails on either side of an integral baseplate. This mount is popular due to its ability to attach any type of scope ( Weaver or MIL-STD) without having to remove the entire weapon from service. Additionally, it has an integrated monopod which makes it easy to position your rifle while shooting at various distances without having to worry about stability issues. The downside of this mount is that it is not very versatile and is not as sturdy as some other options available on the market today.

The following year, 1949, saw the development of the M2 Carbine with an even more robust mount design that allowed attachments of heavier items such as tanks and artillery pieces. By 1951, all rifles equipped with a telescoping stock had been given mounts designed specifically for this purpose. In 1957, the US Army introduced their new shoulder stocks that made it possible to attach larger devices such as machine guns or grenade launchers on rifles without having to remove them from the weapon. This gave rise to yet another type of mount: a scope mount. After years of development and testing, ScopeMasters was born in 1966 as a company devoted to manufacturing these types of mounts. Atascadero is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 2,391 as of the 2010 census. Atascadero is located on the banks of the Kern River and has a long and rich history. The first Europeans to visit Atascadero were members of the Spanish sailing party led by Hernando de Soto in 1542-43. They named their new exploration station San Miguel de Allende after St. Michaels Abbey in England where they had been staying when they reached California. The first European to live permanently in AtascadERO was José Vasquez who arrived on November 8th, 1777 with his family from Chile. In 1846 Antonio Pacheco settled here and became ranch owner for over fifty years until his death in 1922. In 1853 Chico Mendenhall leased Rancho Allende from Pacheco for 999 years because he could not find a buyer for it at that time . On July 14th, 1959 Mexican earthquake destroyed most of downtown Atascadero leaving only four homes standing including one belonging to Rufino Ortiz who lived there until his death on October 10th, 1958 aged 89 years old . It wasn’t until 1986 when then Mayor Rudy Giuliani announced plans to rebuild the downtown area which included demolishing all but three of Ortons' homes which still stand today . In 1990 City Councilwoman Dolores Huerta successfully opposed Giuliani's plan due to its impact on local employment opportunities especially those within walking distance of both City Hall and Ortons' home In 1999 city votersapproved Proposition A which provided funding for restoration project including demolishing all but three Ortons' homes making Atascadero again an open-air community
Atascadero, California was founded in 1853 by Captain Arthur Atascadero and his wife María Elena. The town grew rapidly due to the fertile soil, water resources, and lumber available in the area. The Atascadero & Rancho San Carlos Railroad was completed in 1875 and allowed for rapid growth of the community. By 1910, Atascadero had a population of over 1,000 people and was home to a number of businesses including a bank, grocery store, tannery, post office, and mill. In 1916 the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved plans for a new shopping center which would include a movie theater as well as apartments and other commercial buildings. Construction began on the shopping center in 1922 but it never reached its full potential due to World War II shortages of materials. In 1948 the village merged with neighboring Rancho Santa Clara de AtascadERO which increased its population by another 100 people. Despite this growth however, Atascadero never attained the level of development seen in other nearby towns such as Palo Alto or Menlo Park. In 1978 at least 25% of all households were owner-occupied while only 10% were rented; this compares unfavorably to most American cities where 80-90% of households are rented when compared to 30-40% ownership in American cities today.
