Arvin is a small town in the state of California located on the Mojave desert. Situated approximately 120 miles east-northeast of Fresno, it had a population of 5,853 as of the 2010 census. In 1923, Arvin became part of Saugus District #2 School District; but it reverted to its original name again upon becoming part of Saugus District #1 School District in 1957. In 1968, Arvin incorporated as a city under State law 6362 (now section 722) . It has since experienced rapid growth due to various industrial development projects such as the construction of Interstate 10 and US 395; however, most recent growth has been residential with suburban sprawl ensuing from increased travel between Fresno and San Bernardino County

Arvin is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California, located about 35 miles southeast of Fresno. The town was founded in 1877 by settlers from eastern Oregon and developed around an agricultural community. Arvin became a census-designated place (CDP) in 1959 and saw its population increase to over 2,000 people in 2000. In 2013, Arvin was merged into the larger city of Fresno. The history of Arvin begins with the arrival of Europeans in North America in 1769. In that year, Spanish Captain José Gabriel Ortega de Abreu discovered what would become Arvin while exploring northern California. After landing on July 4th, 1769,Ortega named the area "Asinábal" after his map's namesake—a black bear he sighted near Asuncion on Paraguay's border with Argentina. In 1877, two families from eastern Oregon settled at what is now Arvin and began farming land they had purchased along the banks of the San Joaquin River. By 1860, many local farmers had joined them inraising crops and livestock; by 1870, there were approximately 160 residents living within a short radius of Argínville Creek Settlement (later renamed Arvin). A post office was established at Argínville Creek Settlement on October 6th, 1872; it continued to serve until 1913 when it was moved to nearby Tomahawk Station due to petitioners' objections to having one closer to their homes than Tomahawk itself! During World War I (1914-18), as part of United StatesArmy troops stationed throughout western US east coast theater respectively Camp Pendleton or Long Beach - some 3 miles outside current day Tomahawk - many soldiers lived and ate Hereford beef that was raised nearby for military purposes only! Pork products were not available during wartime because pork wasn't even legal tender food within US borders back then! r february 14 1949 – present day citizens first voted on incorporation into city Limits which went through on may 12 1966 annexing unincorporated portions adjoining City limits including parts adjacent today’s Donnybrook
