Arvin, California is a small town located in Butte County, California. The population was 5,860 at the 2010 census. It lies on the western edge of butte National Monument and is bordered by Nevada to the north and east, Arvin to the south and west, and Butte County to the northwest. The name Arvin comes from Two Rivers Indian Reservation which was located in present-day Arvin. The first people to live here were Humboldt Bay Band of Mission Indians who arrived in 1827. They named their settlement after John A. Arvin who had been a surveyor for Captain James Kenedy's expedition that explored Rancho San Francisco de las Borregas (present day Nevada) in 1825-26. In 1851, William Fenton founded an agricultural society which became known as Fenton & Co.; this company developed arable land around what is now downtown Arvin into one of the most important cotton growing areas of California during the late 19th century. In 1865 Blanche McCulloch organized a stagecoach line between Sacramento and Yuba City with stops at various post offices near today's downtown Arvin until she came down with measles from traveling through Mexico City; this illness spread quickly through northern California so McCulloch gathered her supplies together and started a wagon train back upriver toSacramento where she disembarked at San Joaquin Hiland Court House on April 12th 1865 while still contagious because she wore gloves while handling foodstuffs! A few weeks later on April 28th 1865 two Mormon settlers walked into town looking for work; they were hired as porters for $1 per week! On October 17th 1862 prospectors discovered gold near what is now town center; this discovery led to increased interest in these parts by men such as George Stephenson who set up camp along US Route 66 about five miles northeast of town square before turning it over to Gold Rush speculators including James McDowell Sr., also called “Jimmie” for his experience working among Native Americans (see also: Pahoa). By 1869 there were over 50 miners living hereabouts making Arvin one of America’s earliest goldmining towns! Nearby ranches included Rancho Las Animas (now part of Nevadan), Rincon del Pueblo Mexican American Land Grant No 1, Rincon del Pueblo MexicanAmerican Land Grant No 2, Las Animas National Forest Park Preserve #2 (later portions of Imperial County), Camp Verde Ecological Reserve #2 (later portions of Kern County) During World War II Japanese Americans living in Southern Fresno area were interned hereon suspicion that they would be helping Nazi Germany; however no evidence exists that anyone actually did anything wrong! In 1951 when newly formed Butte County was created from parts of Fresno and Madera Counties residents chose Arvin as their new courthouse site; within three years it had become one of county's leading centers for industry with businesses like Anheuser-Busch Brewery, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Western Electric Company among its graduates! Today much activity takes place around downtownArvin centered around government services like social service agencies like Golden State Social Services Administration/Food Bank/WaterAid etc., cultural events like art festivals or music concerts etc., business endeavors such as garment manufacturing or software development etc., and educational opportunities like local high school districts' vocational programs which often attract students from nearby counties

Arvin is a small town in Kern County, California, about 20 miles east of Bakersfield. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Arvin is located on the Kern River and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa). The earliest known inhabitants of what is now Arvin were the Kumeyaay people who lived on the area for several hundred years before they were displaced by Anglo-Americans in 1847. The town was named after Captain Richard Arvin, an American soldier who served in Mexico during the Mexican–American War and later founded an rancho near present day Arvin. In 1875, Captain Arvin's wife Mary formed a cooperative to purchase 640 acres of land from J.P. Morgan for $3 per acre ($10 million at current prices). They renamed their community "Arvin" after Mary's husband's victory over Mexican forces near modern day San Bernardino County in that year. In 1899, Henry Ford established his first Ford dealership there and began marketing his Model T cars there; it became one of the largest car dealerships in California. By 1915, the population had increased to 2,500 and electric streetlights had been installed throughout town; today those lights help define downtown Arvin as one of Southern California's most popular tourist destinations. The post-World War II boom brought continued growth to Arvin; families moved into new homes built around schools and shopping malls which surrounded downtown areas including Interstate 5 and State Route 66 (later I-5 Freeway). More than 50 businesses developed around downtown with many still open today such as Piggly Wiggly restaurant (now fast food chain), Old Navy Department Store (now Sears), Bank of America branch (now Wells Fargo), Marriott hotel complex (now Hilton) and Childress Tire & Rubber Company plant until it closed its doors in 2003 due to economic factors within Kern County only two weeks after opening.
Today there are just a few remaining buildings from this period including The Welcome Center housed inside an old gas station across from I-5/State Route 66 which opened on November 12th 1948 adjacent to Pioneer Hall Elementary School serving grades kindergarten through eighth grade until 2006 when it closed due to major fire damage.
Downtown business districts have seen significant redevelopment since then with much more mixed use development such as hospitals(Calvary Health Care Park located off SR 66) law enforcement agencies(LAPD)and medical offices(Mount Sinai Medical Center) all clustered together along main thoroughfares like Main Street or First Avenue providing close access to restaurants and nightlife options like Sunburst nightclub or BJ's Bar & Grill.
