Arvin, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. It was founded on May 24, 1879 by John J. Arvin and his brothers. The town became an agricultural community with a population of around 100 residents in the early 20th century. In the 1930s it became a military installation used by the United States Army during World War II. After the war it slowly diminished in population until it had only a few hundred residents remaining by 1990. In 1997, Arvin's post office closed and its ZIP code was changed to 97005. In recent years, Arvin has become known for its AR15 upper receivers production facilities which are located within its limits. These firearms manufacturing plants have produced some of the most popular and well-known AR15 rifles in history including the M4A1 carbine and several P226 pistols.

The Arvin Rifle Company was founded in 1907 by John T. Arvin and formerly known as the California Rifle and Pistol Club. production of rifles increased in World War I, as the company supplied military forces with a variety of firearms including sniper rifles and machine guns. In 1922, the company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester-Arvin Incorporated. In 1933, the name was changed to Winchester Arms Corporation. The company became a subsidiary of American Firearms Corporation in 1966. The parent American Firearms Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1987 but emerged from it with new ownership and operations under the new name of American Weapons Group plc.. Winchester Arms Corporation produced various types of AR15 rifle models until 1993 when it ceased all production due to financial difficulties; however, some models continued manufactured into 1994 under license from other manufacturers such as Colt Canada Ltd., Browning Arms Co., Savage Arms Manufacturing Co., Ruger & Smiths Gunsmithing Company and finally Remington USA LLC until 1998 when all products were discontinued Brazilian-made model (Ruger Mini 12).
Arvin is a small town in Los Angeles County, California, about 25 miles (40 km) east of the city ofLos Angeles. After years of hard work, they erected their own millinery shop on what would become known as Main Street - one of three such shops operated within the new town site; other two were operated by friends and family membersof J.D.'s early business partners: Wm Hovey & Co., which manufactured saddles and harnesses; and John Drysdale & Son, which made clocks and watches.. In 1867, after much discussion among local residents about whether or not to annex into neighboring townships (due to lack of population), voters approved annexation into Contra Costa County under then-County Commissioner William Gifford Smith; this action created what is now eastern Contra Costa County - one of only two counties in California without any incorporated municipalitiespx For many years following its incorporation,Arvin functioned as a rural center where farmers stored produce before selling it off at local markets or sending it downriver to cities like San Franciscox .
