Arcadia, California is a city founded in 1887 by John C. Fremont and his wife, Nancie. The area now known as Arcadia was first surveyed by Captain George Vancouver in 1769. The name “Arcadia” was given to the area because of the bright green trees that grew there. During the 1800s, many entrepreneurs started businesses in Arcadia including: J.C. Fremont, who founded The Fremont Navigation Company; Wm Lyon, who ran the Lyon Implement Works; and Augustus Mifflin, who founded The Mifflin Paper Company. In 1907, America's first handgun holster company was established in Arcadia by Rufus Raymond and Harry Harnisch with help from Dr. Emil Kappe of Germany. Dr Kappe patented his invention called the 'Knife Holster'. It became popular among law enforcement officers around the country and has been used ever since! In 1951, Knives Holsters moved its headquarters to Arcadia from San Francisco due to growing competition from other holster companies within California's leather industry! Today, Arcadia is home to a number of holster businesses which continue to manufacture highly-quality handguns for law enforcement officers all over America!
