Arcadia, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area and is bordered by San Joaquin County to the south, Kern County to the west, and Tulare County to the north. The name "Arcadia" comes from two places: Arcadia Lake in central California and Arcadian Way in east Contra Costa County. The first place was given to a group of settlers who arrived in 1853 from Illinois. On February 14, 1870,Arcadia incorporated as a town under state law making it one of only two townships within Los Angeles County at that time (the other being Glendale). The early days of ARCADIA were difficult because there were no roads or resources available to support such an immense population growth.
