By 1916, Arcadia had a store and three families were living there. In 1922, it had a school and two churches. On November 15, 1928, Arcadia incorporated as an unincorporated community with a population of seventy-two people. A new water tower was built in 1935 and an electric utility came to town in 1938. In 1947, the last post office closed in Arcadia due to increasing competition from larger towns within the Kern County area. However, the community continued to exist as an agricultural center until it lost its status as an agricultural center effective June 1st, 1984 when all township offices became county level with no continuing need for agriculture services or assistance fromArcadia Township residents; however some services remain provided such as fire suppression and ambulance service through Kern County Fire Protection Districts which are funded primarily through property taxes levied on residences within Township boundaries

By 1854, over 1 million dollars worth of gold had been recovered from various sites around Arcadia and Mono County. Arcadia's rich history can be found throughout its history documents from lighthouse posts dating back to1849 through post office buildings built between 1907 and 1912 that still stand today as evidence of how thriving this community was during its early years.
