In 1871, settlement began on what are now the towns of Arcadia, Hacienda Heights, Corona del Mar, and Ar Andreas. Arcadia's location provides many opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, swimming, bird watching,kayaking/canoeing/diving etc., which are popular among residents and visitors alike. The community also enjoys its close proximity to downtown Los Angeles making it easy to get around without having to worry about traffic or parking restrictions
