In 2000, Apple Valley became part of Silicon VALLEY when Google leased land east of Fresno for its new headquarters campus; this made it the only town in California with multiple companies headquartered there collectively since 2007. As Silicon VALLEY expanded into neighboring counties such as Madera and Tulare Counties over time – bringing technology jobs with it – so too did Apple Valley's population share in those same growth opportunities. By 1860 there were over 100 residents living in Apple Valley. Thefirst school opened in Apple Valley in 1865 and was known as Mrs Firth's School until 1906 when it became Scholastic High School after its merger with nearby Saratoga Elementary School
