In 1892, two brothers, George and John Browning founded the Browning Rifle company in Antioch, California. The company manufactured revolvers and other firearms. In 1902, the company moved from Antioch to the more northerly town of Danville where it continued to produce firearms until 1949. In 1919, the Brownings merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to become one of America's largest rifle and shotgun companies. Production of shotguns increased during World War II due to war production demands; however, rifle production decreased as a result of scarce resources. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was purchased by Remington Arms Corporation in 1970 and all gun manufacturing ceased except for sporting ammunition products. During the late 1960s through early 1980s, Remington introduced many new rifle models including the 700 automatic sniper rifle, 870 pump-action shotgun and 10mm pistols (all featuring detachable magazine). By1982 all handgun manufacture had ended except for hunting cartridges which are still produced by Remington Arms Corporation today

Antioch, California is a city in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 105,594 as of the 2010 census. It is the tenth-most populous city in Northern California and the most populous city on the East Coast of United States. Antioch is also the site of San Francisco's first post office and largest gold rush town. The name "Antioch" derives from Greek: Ἀντιώτους (Aniutos), meaning "guards" or "watchmen." Roman General Pompey named it Anioia after his mother Julia Mamaea, daughter of Augustus Caesar. The name may be derived from Ancient Italian Aosta Valley, meaning "Hill of Guards". In 1821, Agriculturalist George Crikey named an area east of Antioch called Antelope Hills in honor of Genoa Governor Antonio de Alcapones y Costilla who had shown interest in that section during a visit to Northern California. The first permanent European settlement at Antioch was by Juan Bautista Loma on 415 acres (1 kilometer²) northeast of what is now downtown Antioch on February 26, 1776 as Rancho del Presidio de los Americanos Mexican Land grant for José Manuel Miranda and Joaquín Castro under Mexico's artillery captain Vicente Guerrero. Loma founded a small village near present-day downtown Antioch with about 40 settlers on Valentine's Day 1776. From this original outpost grew what would become Contra Costa County; much growth took place east of Yuba River before it became part of Contra Costa County when Rancho San Pablo was granted to Aaron Burr January 14, 1853 by then-Governor Prentice Miller following Burr's acquittal for treason against the United States during the War for Independence. On November 1518 Hernando De Soto arrived at Diablo Pass looking for land grants northward along both sides of San Francisco Bay he had discovered while exploring northern California with his expedition led by Pedro Fages earlier that year but having not found any viable sites he turned back southward towards Monterey Peninsula where he left Spanish troops under Captains Manuel Nieto and Vicente Guerrero to trail De Soto rearward past Redwood City on February 617 and reached Happy Valley March 10th where they met up with Captain José Saravia who had been leading another party into Concord Mount Shasta National Monument northwest Of Sacramento which stopped Saravia just short of reaching Happy Valley due to bad weather/water barriers preventing him from going further north than Healdsburg until March 11th when he finally reached Redwood City March 20th after days march through difficult terrain crossing streams and finding passage over snowdrifts near Hailey Peak April 4th). OnApril 11th morning Dominguez found some natural charcoal briquettes about high lying between hills southeast side & hills southwest side within 200 yards SW corner Of old mission adjoinsing new Mission #2ñglesias & anvils minefield across creek bed inside contemporary Mission boundaries—this discovery marked beginningsof modern day Contra Costa County . This area later became known as "Haven't You Heard About...?" because early reports said no one else had ever seen such large quantities OF charcoal thereabouts! There were two more grants given out this way: Rancho Rinconada y Buenas Vista July 24 1836 to Diego Salinas; Rancho Secoya December 8 same year to Fernando Vallejo Toro - these three ranchers formed part of what is today eastern Contra Costa County between Martinez and Pittsburgtownships inclusive In 1851 Double Eagle Mining Company bought 1 million acres (4 km²) around present day downtown Antioch from Rafael Olivares for $1 million dollars plus stock options payable over 5 years lieutenant colonel John Cushing sold Double Eagle Mining Company all rights whatsoever including property west & south which included Harmony Creek 2 miles wide trending NE & SW & 8 miles long containing waterdeep coal mines below surface [the creek] located ½ mile WSW corner now intersection First Street & Elmira Road
