Anderson has experienced many changes over its history including becoming an agricultural center during prohibition; later becoming a bedroom community for Los Angeles; then experiencing rapid growth as a result of both oil production and employment opportunities within Southern California during the 1960s and 1970s; eventually being renamed back to Anderson after being displaced by Salinas as the largest city within its boundaries. Today, Anderson is known for its arts scene which includes several local galleries as well as two large art festivals each year: The Arts Festival on July 4th (partially funded by Google) and Philbrook Museum of Art's Open House Weekend on October 14th/15th each year - both features prominently throughout downtown with various art exhibitions happening throughout the week supporting local businesses along with music performances throughout downtown at various venues
