In 1920, Captain John Bogue donated 154 acres of land east of PCH for use as a military airfield known as Camp Newman which served as an airstrip for American bombers flying missions over World War II bombing Japanese targets in Japan. The airport was used until it was closed by USAF during Cold War Era because it conflicted with Naval Air Station Miramar which operated out of Point Loma Atoll on San Diego Bay. In 1954, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) constructed its first transmission line from downtown Los Angeles County northward along SR 801 to Anza-Borrego Desert Center where PG&E built a substation and three miles long transmission line into Marin County called Line One (later renamed Northern California Edison's Transmission Line No.) When this line opened there were no homes or businesses within 500 feet of it so residents had to walk or bike to their jobs downtown! After being upgraded several times including fiber optic lines and natural gas pipeline construction starting in 1978 PG&E discontinued service on Line One due to budget cuts but maintains rights-of-way around it today along with other associated infrastructure such as roads and power lines

In 1951, Aliso Viejo incorporated as a city and adopted a modern-day form of government with an elected mayor and council system. The following year saw the opening of the new Aliso Viejo High School which became one of Southern California's most prominent schools. In 1957, Mayor Harry Edwards declared Open Season on Los Angeles County for alligator hunting which contributed to quick growth in Aliso Viejo. During World War II, many factories were located in or around Aliso Viejo including Lockheed Martin Aircraft Corporation (now Lockheed Martin Space), Boeing Aircraft Company (now Boeing Co.), General Electric Company (now GEICO), Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (later Mitsubishi Motor Corp.), Koehler Chemical Corporation (later KOCH) and Kaiser Permanente Hospital.. This led to increased job opportunities for locals during World War II while also creating some challenges as production continued at these companies despite orders being placed elsewhere.
