Aliso Viejo is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 153,569 at the 2010 census. It is located on the western edge of San Bernardino County and is one of the most affluent cities in Southern California. Aliso Viejo has been called "the living hope of Southern California" by Forbes magazine and has been named an "urban oasis" by CNNMoney. The name Aliso Viejo comes from two Spanish words - alis (a hill) and viejo (old). The original inhabitants were Native American and later became Spaniards. In 1871, John Cranch decided to change the name of his rancho to Alisalvo because it looked like a big hill with many trees on it. He also changed the spelling of his last name to Alisalvo because he wanted people to know that he wasn't just another rancher in this area. In 1888, Captain George Hearst bought some land adjacent to where today's Downtown Aliso Viejo lies and began developing what would become known as Hearst Ranch which included much of present-day Aliso Viejo. By 1910, over 100 businesses had opened up along Main Street in downtown Aliso Viejo including six banks, twelve stores, three breweries, three theaters and four hotels. In 1927 Los Angeles City Councilman Donald Waring proposed tabling a motion supporting annexation of all or part of Orange County by Los Angeles due to its large growth potential since Prohibition had ended two years earlier; however no action was taken until 1933 when then Mayor Tom Bradley filed a proposal for annexation that was quickly accepted by then-County Supervisor Don Ladd as being for the best interests of both counties - especially as Pop Warner football teams were starting up in Anaheim and other developments were happening throughout southern Californias agricultural heartland near El Condor (present day Riverside County). On January 1, 1935 annexed portions of Orange County as well as Measure B from Riverside CountysKTOWN referendum debacle resulting in passage (by vote)of $2 million bonds for public works projects such as highways/bridges/parkways etc., which forever linked these 2 counties together forming what we know today as “Aliso Viejos”! In 1936 architect Beaux Arts Champion laid out Plan de la Ville – one strobe light advertisement proclaiming “More Money Than You Canpossibly imagine” calling attention to plans for new housing developments east of US 1010SRR across FM 1525 from Pico Boulevard down into residential streets bounded by elementary schools on one side and shopping centers on the other – completely uniting old East Hollywood with brand new West Hollywood! Today you can find remnants Of This Master Plan still visible westward along I-10 between SRR & US 1010SRR

Aliso Viejo (Spanish: Aliso Viejo de Santa Cruz) is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 146,858 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ventura County and part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The name "Aliso Viejo" comes from Spanish for "oak tree island." In 1795 Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo sighted and landed on what is now called Isla Vista on an islet near today's downtown Aliso Viejo. He named it San Miguel de las Palmas (English: Mount Saint Mary's), but this name was changed to Monterey Peninsula in 1821 because of competing claims by Father Francisco Javier Moraga and Captain José Urtubey. In 1846, Santiago Banda made an unsuccessful attempt to open up Lompoc Valley through Rancho Atascadero land grant to Rancho Simi Hills citizens including Josiah Warren. A year later, Banda founded the town of Alisalvo on Novato Creek east of present-day downtown Aliso Viejo. From this small outpost grew what would become known as Alisalvo during its early years as a horse ranching community with several thousand head of horses and camels that grazed on oak trees along the creek banks nearpresent-day downtown Aliso Viejo. By 1860, however, many people had moved into towns or cities due to burgeoning industry in Southern California such as mining and agriculture which led to increased traffic congestion in developing areas around general stores and theaters like Empire Theatres downtown which were built adjacent to busy streetscapes that served refreshment stands for wheelbarrowloads of customers coming from miles away Boys playing by the creek bank often became windsurfers after learning about waves generated by currents moving over sandbars created by high tide creating potential depths ranging from just a few feet at low tide up to twelve feet deep at high tide . In 1904 when William Randolph Hearst purchased large tracts northeast of Downtown Los Angeles he decided to build his new city center within radius provided he could acquire lots east/northeastward from Harbor Boulevard whereupon he hired architect George Designer Hahn who designed two colossal egg-shaped structures soon dubbed “Hearst Tower” erected on imported Italianate granite blocks only one block northwest of Harbour Boulevard across from what is now City Hall Park Hearst Heights Drive ran perpendicular northwest/southeast Kidder Street between them with additional streets branching off at right angles University Avenue northwest past Hearst Towers then south back alongKidder Street past Hearst Towers continuing southeast University Avenue across Harbor Boulevard before turning northeast onto La Brea Ave
