Aliso Viejo is a city in Orange County, California. It population was 153,824 as of the 2010 census. Aliso Viejo is located on the coast of Southern California, about 26 miles south of Anaheim and about 18 miles north of Los Angeles. The city's name comes from a creek that runs through it. The first Europeans to visit what is now Aliso Viejo were Spanish soldiers who made landfall on July 4, 1771 aboard the Armada de Santa Ana. They named the bay for José Nieto y Costilla, viceroy of New Spain at the time and brother-in-law to King Carlos III of Spain. In 1821, Mexico gained independence from Spain and renamed Alisalco Bay after General Rafael Lomas de la Vega y Canales; however, this naming remains unidentified and unrecorded in any historical sources. In 1872–73 Antonio Nunez built a small lighthouse here which he called "Nueva San Francisco". It became known as "Aliso Viejo" (New Aliso) because it was part of Rancho Atascosa Cattlemen's Reserve until 1907 when it became part of orange groves owned by The Western Electric Company (later Comcast) which also included portions of Irvine and Costa Mesa. From 1922 until 1924 live oak trees were used to generate power for local lights; now all light fixtures are electric or solar powered! On October 15th 1924Los Angeles Angels pitcher Cy Young threw a no-hitter against visiting San Diego Padres at Municipal Stadium in front of an attendance record 139,531 spectators! This event helped bring new life to downtown Aliso Viejo which had been abandoned since World War II due to fear that gang violence would take over again its once prosperous commercial district filled with office buildings housing banks and other large businesses adjacent to Civic Center Park then filled with low-income homes near Chinatown/Downtown LA.. A few years later on November 2nd 1951 another no hitter by Cy Young took place at Municipal Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers faced off against the Philadelphia Athletics; this game also helped bring business back into downtown Aliso Viejo although only some offices reopened after being repainted white inside walls covered with plywood prior to that date! By 1957 there were only two small businesses left in downtown Aliso VieJO: The Hardware Store next door where Ira Glass opened his first store ever outside America selling hardware imported from Europe in 1954 followed by Bobs Discount Department Store across Hwy 101 shortly afterwards while many more storefronts closed during Quirky's tenure as Mayor beginning around 1978 followed by declines during 1990s associated with county budget cuts primarily affecting services like libraries not occurring until 2000 when developer Dean Takahashi purchased most if not all downtown business including both stores creating an even smaller core business area surrounded only by residential blocks continuing into present day . A few exceptions have occurred such as One Market Place becoming home to several restaurants including Nobu before being sold in 2007 and reverted back to its original design pending reopening following extensive community input; GDI has invested heavily in massive renovations ensuring continued success for the restaurant notwithstanding numerous vandalism attempts throughout history

In 1881, when Alisalvo came into common use as a place name for all of Orange County, John Sutter built his large sugar refinery on its wharf just outside of town limits today's downtown area – one of the largest single employers in town history; he named his company Sutter Sugar Company after himself and his friend Augustus Sutter (1785-1867), father of General George Custer and President James Kieft’s business partner in Oregon Territory (1851-57). In 1915 Fritos Corporation merged with Procter & Gamble to become what we now know as PepsiCo Incorporated; Fritos had been bought by American Tobacco Co., which merged with British Tobacco Companies Ltd., creating what then was known as British American Tobacco plc.; this made Fritos the world's largest candy producer until Hershey took over that title in 1984.) The early 20th century saw intense development around citrus production following Henry J la Halle’s discovery of orange juice being produced from grapefruit seeds grown nearby on small estates by local farmers using hand tools during 1849-50 season – La Halle started importing large supplies of fresh oranges from France just before America gained independence from Spain in 1846 under Ulysses S Grant’s administration – not until 1870 did anything approaching an industry began around oranges for export other than fruit juices concentrate
