Alhambra is a city in southern California and the seat of Alameda County. In 1855, Don José Antonio Crespí bought all of Alameda County from Juan Bautista de Anza for $8 million dollars . From this purchase came most of what is now Alameda County including parts of Fremont andOakland Counties. In 1870, Jens Peter Müller visited central California for his surveyor’s checkbook that helped lay out Sacramento Valley for future Kings basketball player Julius Erving to play in when he attended college at UCLA. He stopped at the mission where he met Father Junipero Serra who showed him around town. Two weeks later he sent back a detailed report on his findings which were published as A General Interpreter's Sketch Map of Central California . This document has been reprinted many times since it was created with different changes throughout history including one edition that included photographs which have made it one of America's earliest tourist guides

As a result of this order, much of downtown Los Angeles was lost including Alhambra which survived thanks to its role as an important military base during World War II. After years of neglect by local officials and developers alike, preservationists campaigned successfully for decades to bring back what had been lost while also creating new businesses and attractionsalongside preserving many of the original architecture which still stands today including barracks used by U.S Marine Corps troops during World War II; Spanish mission churches dating back to Mission Santa Ana; art galleries such as The California Institute Of Art; The Highsmiths Theatre Company; Llewellyn Museum Of American Art; Amherst House School;[1]and more recently developments such as Casa Blanca located adjacent to National Park Service land managed by Arroyo Seco Open Space District[2].
