He married Doña María Crespo y Soto on February 6th of that year in Monterey County and journeyed up the San Joaquin Valley to Sacramento where they set up house at the Presidio of San Francisco on September 17th of 1840. On October 25th they had their second child Francisco Javier de la Peña y Costilla who would eventually become 4th Viscount Crémán (1851-1929). In 1853 John Sutter founded the adobe mission empire at Rancho Santa Anita which included Mission San Diego del Carmelo (later part of Alhambra) and it is said that General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna requested permission to name his new rancho El Paso del Norte after Captain José Gomez Rubio Battle who fought for Mexico against United States during the Mexican–American War because he felt Englishman were taking advantage of Mexican forces under Spanish command In 1861 Angelina Jolie's father Eustace Jolie moved from Normandy to Stockton to take over control of a sawmill run by his brother Charles Jolie. A few years later Charles decided to move into agricultural land near Morongo Canyon so he named his property La PazFarmeryposado meaning "the place where agriculture will grow". When Angelina came of age her father gave her some land east of Morongo Canyon which he called Hollywood Hills At first there were only a few people living around Hollywood Boulevard but soon enough developers started coming in looking for sites for movies studios and other businesses When Los Angeles City Charter was passed on April 20, 1911 it created movie districts within Los Angeles County including Hollywood, Vine Street/Rancho Drive, Fairfax Avenue/Highland Avenue etc In 1925 Paramount Pictures Corporation moved its studios from Culver City to what is now downtown LA which made Alhambra one of their earliest neighborhoods On November 10th 1928 Mayor James Rolph proposed amending Annexation Ordinance No. 8055 creating two tracts adjoining Highland Avenue – one comprising Lots 1 through 5 (northwest corner), containing an area measuring eighty feet wide by seventy feet long; lot 6 extending northeasterly six hundred yards ; lots 7 through 11 being located easterly five hundred yards between Lots 1 through 5 inclusive ; all these tracts constituting thirteen square miles or about three fourths acreage . It should be noted that this proposal did not include any part of what would later become Northridge or Westwood

The fortress served as a military post and prison for Californios and Mexicans during the years following Mexican independence from Spain. In 1821, prospectors discovered gold hereabouts and began to flock to this newly discovered land. On October 15, 1826 two men named Elisha Cook and José Castro started work on an irrigation canal they christened the Garden Canal after Frederick Law Olmsted’s garden in New York City – one of many such works undertaken around this time in response to reports of vast treasures hidden beneath the earths surface by Mexicans led by Hidalgo Governor Manuel Micheltorena. After completing their work on December 12th they smallpox killed both men; only Castro survived A group of fifty Englishmen who had landed at San Diego Bay on July 17th 1827 set up camp at Rancho Rincon del Diablo about four miles east of modern-day Alhambra near what is now El Cajon Boulevard. The company's name was given to them by Captain James Cook who sighted them ashore on July 26th while sailing northwest along San Diego Bay toward Acapulco’s Malibu Coast The Company moved its headquarters back and forth between San Diego and Monterey for several years before finally settling at its current site near Mission Trails Park west of downtown Alhambra in 1829 Mission Trails Park has been property owned by various people since it was first developed including Pacific Gas & Electric Company who donated land for it in 1923 During William Randolph Hearst's ownership of Miramar Beach Resort (1915-1920), he commissioned architect John Woolridge to design a resort that would be located adjacent to Hearst's ranch house on State Route 33 just south of Interstate 5 Hearst never made it through construction due to financial troubles incurred during World War 1 which ultimately led him into bankruptcy After World War 2 ended, local farmers decided they wanted their own county seat so they formed Riverside County with boundaries that included most of what is now southern Riverside County including much of what is now central Alhambr
Alhambra was founded in 1802 by José Figueroa y Quintero. The founder, José Figueroa y Quintero, came from a farming family in the province of Andalusia, and he had an opportunity to learn about wine-making when he accompanied his uncle on a trip to Tordesillas. He decided to set up his own winery and named it Alhambra because of the Huertas mountains that guarded the town's entrance. In 1807, Alhambra became part of Mexico City and its wine production increased significantly. In 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla offered land for a new parish in Alhambra and this led to an increase in population as people from all over sought access to the wine country. In 1829, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna became president of Mexico and changed many policies that harmful to the wine industry such as prohibiting importation of foreign wines while permitting domestic production. This caused a decrease in production at Alhambra which went into receivership until 1840 when it was bought back by José Figueroa y Quintero who continued making wine until his death in 1830. After him, the business passed through several hands before it finally came under control of Pedro Pablo Montt's government during World War II. It was nationalized by President Juárez upon his return from exile and began producing Zinfandel wines again until 1984 when it was privatized once again under Mexican president Carlos Menem).
