Alhambra is a small town in the Mojave Desert of California. It is located about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. Alhambra was founded in 1911 by Jewish immigrants from Russia and Ukraine. The city's name comes from Arabic al-Majid, meaning "the safe haven." Ammunition production began in Alhambra in 1922 and continued until the early 1970s. The first commercial ammunition store was opened in Alhambra by Rheinmetall AG in 1922. The company manufactured a wide variety of ammunition including rifle rounds, artillery rounds, shotgun shells, handguns, and explosives. In 1923 the company moved its headquarters to El Cajon Boulevard where it remains today. Ammunition manufacturing resumed at the plant after World War II but stopped due to economic conditions. In 1951 Ramstein Arms Inc., a German armaments manufacturer, bought Alhambra Arsenal Incorporated for $1 million dollars. Ramstein Arms operated the plant until 1984 when it sold it to Remington Arms Co., which became part of Winchester Repeating Arms Corp.. Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation continued to produce ammunition at the plant until 1997 when it merged withBrowning Firearms Company to form Browning-Arsenal Corporation LLC. In 1998 Browning-Arsenal Corporation was renamed Remington Outdoor Group plc and all products bearing that name were discontinued beginning with 700 Black Hawk round introduced that year

Alhambra is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. Alhambra was founded in 1881 by Spanish settlers as the town of Monterey and was renamed after the palace of Granada in Spain. The population was 25,851 at the 2010 census. It is located within southeastern Contra Costa County on both sides of Interstate 680. The name "Alhambra" is derived from Arabic ألهمبرة meaning "palace" and العمراء meaning "strong". The city's original site may have been near modern-day Hercules Avenue and Park Drive. Prewar residents were friendly to each other so traders established themselves there before moving inland to new markets beyond Antioch Valley where they began trading goods such as wine, olive oil, straws, clothing and tools with China for goods like textiles and weapons. The first recorded mention of Alhambra appears in 1694 when Juan Crespí reported that he had seen an extensive village orchard near what is now downtown Alhambra but no castle or other buildings therein. In 1776 Antonio Lopez de la Portilla completed his map of California which included a section covering what are now Contra Costa County and Orange County; it also depicted present-day San Francisco Bay Area. At this time Mission Dolores (later known as Mission Santa Clara) was located east of present-day San Francisco on Treasure Island just north of the Golden Gate Bridge acrosswhich lay then part of Marin County. A group including José Gilroy y Costilla explored the area between Point Reyes National Seashore and Sausalito during early 1800s looking for a route to connect missions with mainland Mexico City through what is today called the Transcontinental Highway system; they failed to find any clues leading them back to their original goal until they revisited Martinez Peninsula in 1821 while exploring land leased from Don Felipe de Anza at Rancho Seco although no road existing led then south past Point Reyes into Marin County - only later did another group under José Joaquin Nunez gain access over water from Humahuaca Creek via Coyote Hill about three miles southwesterly thereof until reaching Redding Cove about two miles due east alongshoreline prior discovery by surveyors aboard USS Discovery circa 1825 – thus becoming part of Redding Channel rather than El Sobrante Strait subsequent discovery decades later by Commodore George Vancouver during his 1789–1793 exploration voyages off North America’s West Coast In 1881, Humboldt brothers John Sutter and Jedediah Smith came ashore on Point Reyes Island following their disastrous attempt to navigate Wilsons River overland from Mendocino Bay many miles upstream through difficult country full of serpentine canyons before descending via Overlook Pass beneath Mount Shasta into Sacramento Valley; upon landing at Laguna Honda shortly thereafter they erected an old adobe cabin there named Fort Helvetico – although soon afterwards another outpost nearby became known as Fort Stockton because supplies coming downriver became too heavy for Humboldt Brothers Store built near Laguna Honda harborage but moved further upriver some years later still using that Same location . The same year Mexican explorer Manuel Micheltiere visited Alhamba valley during his annual expedition along coastal northern California river systems reporting impressive Hills topographically unique except for those heretofore mentioned Adirondacks where he noted small mountains rising abruptly outcropping nearly perpendicular to valleys floor without intervening foothills . He also observed large herds OF Antelopes living in pleasant open country several miles distant adjacent a well kept rancho belonging to gentleman formerly residing therein who having recently lost much livestock went into great sorrow because he could not provide them withe necessary food ; being much perplexed I made bold go among these people & try if I could get information respecting their intentions & returns . After some weeks stay I returned home laden with presents , having succeeded so far as concerns important pointsrelative thereto viz.; Their numbers (which I found exceed five thousand strong), their mode Of subsistence (antlered Game considerable), number ol Houses (several hundred), extent & nature ol Fields etc., which has caused me much satisfaction since my arrival hereabouts even tho' it has not yet furnished me with information relative TO THEIR REAL INTENTIONS OR RETURNS .)
