The first shotguns were made with six-inch barrels and did not have any sights or trigger mechanisms. In 1872, a man by the name of George Wascher created the first shotgun magazine. This Magazine allowed shotguns to be fired rapidly by depositing rounds one at a time into the barrel
Alameda, California is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,883. The city's name comes from Alameda Island and its namesake creek which run through it. The island is located on the San Francisco Bay Area's central coast. The first European to visit Alameda was Portuguese captain João Rodrigues in 1778 during his circumnavigation of America. In 1824, Russian Governor Fyodor Dostoevsky chartered an ship called "Ladyenhof" and set sail for Alameda with 129 immigrants from Russia. They landed at what is now downtown Alameda on December 15th of that year and named their new city after General José Gabriel Miranda da Silva (1768-1821), commander of the Brazil Expedition against Mexico City under Napoleon Bonaparte. It wasn't until 1835 when Colonel George Bancroft erected a wooden fortification on Point Diablo – then part of Marin County – that Fort Stinson began to serve as an actual threat to Oakland's shipping interests in the southern anchorage of San Francisco Bay. In 1851, John Sutter arrived in Northern California with hisbrother Jedediah Smith and founded Yerba Buena Cove near present-day Daly City before moving inland to found Rodeo Junction on May 28th of that year where he met Kitty Genovese and her brother Julius Caesar Applegate who were living among the Coalinga Indians prior to sailing out into what is now Silicon Valley on September 20th of that year with their families. It wasn't until 1872 when two brothers named Edward Hughes bought land at Treasure Island along El Sobrante Creek for $2 per acre which led to their naming the newly formed town - Hughes Landing - after themselfs only 2 years later when they donated all remaining land within Alamedan limits including Point Diablo where they had built Fort Stinson just a few years earlier! With additions such as Pleasanton (named forpleasant Hill Road running through it) Fillmore (named for Fillmore Street running through it) Fremont (named for one of Ziegfeld’s most popular shows), Newark (named after New Jersey Avenue running through it) Grimes(after Driggs Grimes who lived in Berkeley at the time), Richmond BART Station (now part of Transbay Terminal Tower), Hayward Naval Shipyard pedestrian walkway & Embarcadero light rail line extension not yet completed you have today’s largest city by area size - measuring over 12% OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA! Today there are many local businesses that contribute greatly to both our economy and our quality of life including Apple Inc., Google LLC, Adobe Systems Incorporated, Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc., Salesforce Corporation, Oracle Corporation & many more!

Alameda, California is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 103,824 at the 2010 census. It is the seventh-largest city in California and the third-largest city in the Bay Area of San Francisco. Alameda has a rich history dating back to missions established by Spanish settlers in the late 18th century. The city was founded on October 25, 1853 as a result of an agreement reached between Mexico and United States negotiators during the Gadsden Purchase Treaty. The first person to settle in what is now Alameda was John Cowlitz. He named his new land Rancho temporal de San Antonio del Valle after one of his possessions, San Antonio de Bexar, Texas. Beginning in1875, Alameda began rapid growth as a result of its role as an important transportation center for emigrants heading westward from Southern California and Nevada during the Gold Rush period. In 1870, it became part of Oakland; however, because Oakland was primarily an agricultural town with no significant industry until after World War II, it retained much of its rural character throughout most of this time. From 1945 through 1990s Alameda experienced dramatic rises and falls in crime rates which earned it nicknames such as "The City that Couldn't Sleep" or "The Crime Capital of America." However during this period there also appeared to be serious mismanagement and corruption within many key municipal institutions which resulted in some outrageous abuses - such as allowing traffic engineers who were later convictedof providing false engineering reports to win lucrative contracts from their clients.) However overall public opinion had shifted somewhat by then towards more open government and better economic management so that crime rates have slowly declined since then despite occasional spikes (e.g., see my earlier paper on CA's housing crisis). Today's incarnation of Alameda includes several neighborhoods with strong community values: Park Slope/Downtown/Uptown/East Oakland/North Beach etc.; while other neighborhoods continue to grow rapidly (e.g., Richmond), reflecting the overall trend across Contra Costa County over recent decades towards suburbanization
In 1852, Spanish land grants were made to José María Alameda and others. The area now known as Alameda was part of the Rancho San Francisco de Santa Clara grant. In 1872, the California State Legislature passed the Land Act which allowed for a new county to be created in Contra Costa County, and Alameda became one of its first districts. The first store in what is now Alameda opened on November 10,1872 by Wm. H. Smith & Bros., just east of Point Reyes Station on Highway 1A then called Nevada Street. The store was located at what is now First Avenue and Center Street. At that time there were only two saloons in Contra Costa County - One on Pacific Coast Highway near Fremont and another at Mount Diablo near Hercules. In 1878, Lorenzo Snow started a grocery business at Eighth and Mission Streets in Oakland with his brother-in-law George Hearn and their father John Snow Jr.. when they opened their first store together it was the largest grocery store in Northern California On December 12, 1888 Wm Copley opened the world's first drive-in movie theater with four screens - three south of Fourth Street between Howard Street and Clay St., and one north of Third Street between Broadway and Market Streets (now Midtown Oakland). This theater was demolished in 1969 but some foundations remain
