Agoura Hills is a city in the Central Valley region of California, United States. The population was 15,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area and bordered by Pasadena to the south, Beverly Hills to the west, West Covina to the north and east, and Industry to the northwest. The City of Agoura Hills was founded in 1887 as an agricultural town on Rancho Cucamonga's eastern edge. With its rich groundwater resources and rolling hills, it quickly became a center for industry and government. In 1921, Agoura Hills annexed nearby Ivanhoe Heights. By 1930, Agoura had created one of Southern California's most prestigious neighborhoods with high-rise apartments and mansions set among manicured gardens. However, during World War II various industries closed down here due to fuel shortages; in particular meatpacking plants located near Airport Boulevard in downtown Agoura Hills (now renamed Airport Drive). As a result of this decline in industry over time much of what once made up downtown Agoura Hills has been lost or replaced by new development such as shopping centers and office buildings complexes. In recent years there have been efforts made by some residents to revive downtown Agoura Hills through programming like arts festivals and local food trucks which have drawn attention from businesses looking for a place to invest outside of Downtown LA . Today many people who live in or work around Downtown LA say that they miss being able to walk from their homes into downtown without having to go out onto major streets like Flower Street or Harbor Drive

Agoura Hills is a city in southern California. The population was 66,812 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The name "Agoura Hills" comes from Agoura National Forest, which includes much of the city. The first people to live in what is now Agoura Hills were the Tongva Native Americans who hunted and gathered wild plants and animals along the east side of hills near present-day Westchester Drive and Sylmar Avenue. They built their teepees out of logs or earth around 7,000 BC. In 1860, Captain John Harker discovered rich silver mines in this area while exploring for new gold fields in Southern California. A group of Englishmen called themselves the Forty Thieves discovered these mines on November 14, 1866 while on their way to sell lumber to General Mexicans led by Pio Pico on Rancho San Fernando. A group of men led by Captains George Hill and James Irvine prospected for silver here until they found no ore but did find some valuable ingots that they took back with them to London where they sold them off to merchants for £1 each A large man named James Irvine purchased a piece of land adjoining General Mexican’s rancho at what is now Sylmar Avenue and Westchester Drive in 1868 for $2,000 cash only because he wanted an isolated place to farm his newly discoveredsilver mine shafts without competition from other farmers near him on Simi Valley Road (now Ventura Boulevard). He named his new farm “Agoura Hills” after one of his holdings in England where he had been born about 1785 In 1892 William Randolph Hearst acquired title to alluvial gold claim No 9 on Cahuenga Hill north of UCLA Campus - making Hearst one of America's first millionaire landowners He invested money into real estate development throughout Southern California including Agoura Hills when he bought a home there in 1922 shortly before his death aged 91 years old At Hearst's death many homes and businesses were destroyed during the Great Depression when prices fell so drastically that many workers lost their jobs; however most recovered over time as industry revived As industries diversified during the late 20th century more jobs started coming back into town but since then it has slowly declined and lost some residents due largely to commuting distance
Agoura Hills was founded in 1887 by John C. Fremont and his family. The town became a suburb of Los Angeles in 1907. In 1957, Agoura Hills annexed the neighbouring city of Westwood.
