In 1922 Paramount Pictures merged with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio making it one of Hollywood's largest studios with its own lot back then called 'the Moguls'. That same year MGM released its feature film version of Yasuo Suzuki's manga novel "Dragonslayer", directed by John Ford which became a box office success both domestically and internationally earning US$8 million against its budget of US$4 million. A second movie adaptation – this time based on Hideshige Shiina's novel "Tetsuwan Atom" – followed Suiton’s lead two years later in 1926 but failed to make much money despite critical acclaim. Japanese investors bought out American interests in Famed Players-Lasky only for it to be closed down due to financial difficulties within a few years largely because of prohibitionism during the1920s era throughout most Western nations throughout much of continental North America however some elements returned like founder Harry Jameson’s son Mack Jr who established Metro Goldwyn Mayer Films Distribution Company before dying suddenly young Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly & Co acquired control over MGFVC causing major reorganization which led eventually to establishment of Lionsgate Entertainment Corporation whose CEO Michael De Luca purchased MPLV assets including all remaining Famed Players assets/Studio property including Agoura Hills effective February 1st 2009 Eli Lilly & Co sold their controlling interest in MGFVC effective February 1st 2009 creating Lionsgate Entertainment Corporation whose CEO Michael De Luca purchased MPLV assets including all remaining Famed Players assets/Studio property including Agoura Hills effective February 1st 2009 resulting in an amalgamation or merger between these two large entertainment companies with approximately 78% ownership each making it one operational entity known today as Lionsgate Entertainment Corp
