The AR-15 rifle, also commonly known as the assault rifle or simply the AR, is a bolt-action firearm that was originally designed and fielded by the United States Military in the early 1970s. It has served in numerous conflicts around the world, including wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as paramilitary events such as Blackwater USA's shootout at Fort Hood. The origins of the AR-15 are traced back to 1971 when Lieutenant Colonel John F. Lynch conceived a new design for an infantry automatic Rifle which would be chambered for the NATO 7.62x39mm cartridge. This project was later renamed "Armadillo" after General Dynamics Land Systems Division's M16A4 assault rifle model which had been developed during World War II. The first prototype of "Armadillo" was completed on October 15, 1973 and successfully fired from a moving long gun barrel using gas-operated ammunition; this achievement marked the beginning of development of what would eventually become known as "AR-15". On December 12, 1974, Major General Leslie Ritchie ordered all Army Infantry Officers to carry an Armadillo rifle without penalty; this order represented a significant change from previous doctrine which mandated soldiers carry only service rifles such as those manufactured by Colt® pistols or Winchester Repeating Arms Company rifles (i.e., carbines). In March 1975, trials were conducted with 3MILIO rounds through Armadillo rifles to determine whether they could provide effective firepower against armored vehicles while under fire. These tests determined that Armadillo rounds could penetrate up to 350 mmarmor plate at 100 meters; this was subsequently ratified by Headquarters military personnel on May 3rd1975. It should be noted that until 1978 - when production began on what would become known as "Pumpkin", models M1 Carbine (Caliber: 5.56x45mm NATO), M2 Carbine (7×57mm Mauser) & M3 Carbine (5gal mag), all variants chambering 5 round detachable magazines - Armas did not have any officially sanctioned name for their product other than simply "AR". Assembled rifles bore nicknames such as Texas Ranger (M2A3), Beastmaster (M1A3), Cowboy Rifle (6 inch barrel only), etc.; these nomenclature changes followed soldier feedback regarding perceived weaknesses & advantages of various weapons among Marine Divisions serving in Vietnam prior to its withdrawal there in 1979

Agoura Hills is a city in Southern California, located on the eastern edge of the San Fernando Valley. The population was 67,647 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Agoura Hills name may come from an American Indian word meaning "valley of silver". The first Europeans to visit what is now Agoura Hills were Spanish explorers in 1769 and 1770. A mission, Nuestra Señora de la Concepción de las Americas, was founded here in 1821 by Franciscan friars under the direction of Governor José Joaquín Félix Vázquez y Costilla. In 1834, Rancho La Brea was acquired by John Sutter and became his private land grant; it lay just outside the city limits until 1907 when it became one of Los Angeles County's 84 townships. On October 15, 1907, a group of businessmen led by Mayor James Wirt opened what would be known as Wirt's Department Store at 9th and Vine streets in downtown Agoura Hills; this store would become one of America's first department stores. The original plot for the city was bounded east-west by Imperial Avenue (now Ventura Boulevard), north-south by Flower Street (now Hearst Boulevard), and east-west by Springdale Avenue (now Villa Park Drive). After years of debate over annexation intoLos Angeles County or into other municipalities within LA County, Agoura Hills finally incorporation on November 6, 1923 with a population of 33 residents. One reason why Agoura Hills achieved rapid growth during its early years was its location: right next to two major railroad lines that made easy access to jobs and goods throughout Southern California. Railroads were also important factors in shaping how people lived here – agrarian families built their homes near railroads so they could get their produce to market quickly and easily; businesses grew because they needed space only accessible through rail transportation; and eventually schools were built because many citizens wanted children close to schools so they could have opportunities for education without leaving their homes
Agoura Hills was founded in 1885 by brothers George and John T. Agoura. The original homestead was a two-story, frame house on the corner of Agoura Boulevard and Vine Street. In 1903, the Agoura Hills Post Office was established, and in 1916, the first telephone line arrived in the area when the Wiegand Telephone Company opened up shop on Vine Street. The agricultural industry continues to play an important role in Agoura Hills today with more than 50 businesses located throughout the community.
