About 1900 Gold Rush era items such as cans of gasoline were being sold at local store fronts along Adobe Rd., most notably Mrs.(Mary Jane) Kapp who ran an oil well at that time along with her son Geoge Kapp Sr.. When Interstate 10 was built through southern San Bernardino County in 1957 much ofOldtown Square was destroyed eitherby development or impact resulting in increased traffic congestion on Adobe Rd./Main St.; however some residences remain including Mrs.(Annie)(Gertrude)Leroy's home which still stands today adjacent to Oil Well No.#1 once owned by Mrs.(Mary Jane)Kapp acrossfrom Geoge Kapp Sr.'s childhood home where he played throughout his boyhood
