Polk issued Executive Order 9265 ordering all rifle and shotgun manufacturers to produce "shotgun shot" based on new technology developed by John Brownlee at his gun company, Brownlee Rifle and Pistol Company. This order led to the development of today's shotgun rounds that are designed to explode on impact, reducing recoil and muzzle blast. In 1857, Congress passed an act authorizing Samuel Colt to begin manufacture of revolvers in America. Colt produced his first revolver in 1859 and soon thereafter began production of handguns as well. By 1865, Colt had manufactured over 1 million revolvers across a variety of models including pistols, rifles, shotguns and machineguns. Today we still enjoy using these old-fashioned firearms for target practice or just enjoying a good up close shooting experience!

Adelanto, California is a city located in San Bernardino County, California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 97,651. The city was founded in 1852 by Jedediah Smith and named for Adelanto Creek. It is portion of the Angeles National Forest. In 1905 it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 30,000 people. In 1915 it became an unincorporated community with a population of 8500 people. The name "Adelanto" comes from the Spanish word "adelante," meaning ahead or forward. The first post office in Adelanto opened on October 12, 1851.[1] The town was platted in 1852 by Jedediah Smith and named for Adelanto Creek which he discovered while exploring southern San Bernardino County.[2] The creek flows through the center of town and provides water to most residents.[3] A depot was built at present day Alpine Boulevard and Railroad Avenue in 1855,[4] but no goods ever reached Adelanto until 1865 when mail brought goods by wagon train from Los Angeles via Carrizo Plain[5][6]: during that year two stagecoaches stopped near what is now downtown Adelonto providing passengers with dinner before continuing on their journey northward: one night at Pueblo de la Trinidad,[7][8]: another night at Adobe Walls Ranch (now known as East Mesa)[9]: both were reported to be very successful so someone decided to keep the operation going even though there were no railroads nearby then either! In 1905, incorporation took place as an unincorporated community with a population of 30,000 people:[10], making it one of the largest towns west of Sacramento at that time. At that time only about 10% of Americans lived within 100 miles (160 km) of LA/San Francisco Bay Area cities like Oakland or San Jose; this included all but 2% (or less)of Californians living west of Fresno).[11] During World War I efforts were made to establish small villages consisting primarily of Japanese-Americans living east side streets away from white dwellings: Akutagawa Crossing[12],[13]; Angel Island[14]; Topaz Beach; Crescent City; Murphys Landing; Spring Valley; etc., but these failed because military authorities deemed them unconstitutional camps without proper housing or defense preparation facilities – not surprisingly given Japan's wartime occupation).[15][16] It should be noted that many current suburbs such as Reseda and Northridge began appearing after World War II when large numbers Of Japanese-American veterans returning home established new civilian populations outside major urban areas throughout California including Southern Orange County

Adelanto is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 34,521 at the 2010 census. Its ZIP code is 91723. It is adjacent to Riverside and eastern San Bernardino counties. The city of Adelanto was founded by Mexicans who had come overland from Mexico City in 1849. The first post office in Adelanto was established in 1852. In 1864, the town became a county seat when San Bernardino County was formed from parts of Riverside and Orange Counties. At the time, it was one of three Californian communities not organized as counties until 1911. In 1886, the Western Pacific Railroad began construction through what is now Adelanto and offered land for settlement east of its tracks on what would become known as Rancho Cucamonga Mesa; the arrival of this railroad led to increased growth around Rancho Cucamonga Mesa and elsewhere within San Bernardino County during the late 19th century and into the 20th century. By 1920, Adelanto had outgrown its original boundaries on both sides of ranchocitos ( enclosed neighborhoods). To accommodate growing population densities inside or outside their corporate limits (i.e., annexation),approaches were made to having annexations take place that would enlarge pre-existing incorporated areas by adding new blocks or tracts thereof where desired; such annexations were periodically enacted throughout much of Southern California during this period due to political pressure from various organizations representing interests within an annexed area(s). On July 15, 1926, after years of planning by officials at City Hall and with input from citizens via referendum held two weeks earlier, voters approved annexation into Imperial Valley which included portions including today's downtown core of Adelanto as well as most of today's unincorporated portions east and south of I-10 between Valencia Street/Pasadena Avenue and Interstate 10/State Route 146 (the present day boundary between Riverside County - east side)
