Van Buren is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–based city of North Little Rock. The first settler in Van Buren was John Dickey in 1821. He and his family moved to this area from Illinois about 1825. A post office called Bearden was established in 1829, and remained in operation until 1865. In 1835, George Washington Carver settled hereabouts with his family. Mr. Carver ran a grocery store on Main Street for many years before moving to Helena, Arkansas in 1907. In 1840, Wm Henson erected a log cabin near the present day intersection of Academy Road and Elm Street; it became known as "Henson's Cabin". In 1850 Wm Henson built a house on Cemetery Hill which he named "Henton's House" after himself and his wife Jane/Nancy Henton (1814-1885). This house still stands today on the corner of Academy Road and Elm Street just east of Van Buren High School Campus. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated as President of the United States at Ford's Theatre in Van Buren; local residents attended this event from their homes located around or near that location (the only time such public assembly took place within walking distance of any Arkansan town). In 1865 Union troops burned Henton's House following their victory over Confederate forces at Battle Creek Bridge upriver from Vann Berrien County seat Jacksonville Landing - thereafter known as "The Burning Of Henton's House" or simply "The Burning." After the war ended all settlement ceased except for occasional relatives coming back to visit friends and families since there were no roads or transportation available for them to reach health insurance claims through Agent Orange registration campaigns conducted by military authorities during peacetime across much Southeast Arkansas including much of Van Buren County (and other parts adjacent thereto) Moreover there were few opportunities for agricultural production due to lack of irrigation systems either along rivers or major highways especially given heavy rains during hard times So little development occurred throughout most areas primarily because people had few opportunities for self-employment outside farming echelons Most farmers prospered either operated ranches working cattle or leasing land out agrarian pursuits Some Major Roads & Infrastructure Developments: The first modern school building locally constructed by settlers – Drury School – opened its doors to students in November 1830 when Elijah Garnett began teaching grades one through 12th grade inside what is now First Baptist Church on Main Street; Drury School closed circa 1880 following an earthquake that struck Van Burersen causing extensive damage& loss Of Property The later addition & expansion Blockbuster Video Store Opened July 20, 1978 Just south of current day Elm & Academy Streets opposite old Post Office Annex Built 1980s Landfill construction completed 1990s beginning large scale redevelopment now known as NorthLittleRochester

In addition, he supported Indian Removal and developed policies that facilitated white settlement in Arkansas. In1841, Van Buren ran for reelection but was defeated by Democrat John C. Calhoun. After his loss, Van Buren retired from political life and moved back to New York City where he continued to practice law until his death in 1865.
In 1827, Van Buren was elected as the 3rd United States Senator from Arkansas. He served until his death in 1847.
