With over one million residents living within its boundaries by 1990,Texarkana has become an important cultural center for central Arkansas with facilities including two libraries and numerous art galleries as well as theaters, restaurants,and nightlife options available on busy streetscapes like Main Street or Roosevelt Boulevard bordering Interstate 10 east of downtown. Schools include three high schools - Bowie High School; Lamar High School; and West Central Junior/Senior High School - plus four middle schools: North Central Middle School; South Central Middle School; East Central Middle School; and West Side Intermediate/High school which serve grades 7-12th grade students from neighborhoods adjacent to downtown & outer suburbs east & west of I-10
