On July 15, 1875, Sitton submitted his report on his exploration of this area which included a grant for 240 acres (98 hectares) to local resident W H Moore. In 1907, railroad promoters organized the Texas Pacific Railway Company Limited out of Houston into four divisions: Memphis - Texas City - San Antonio - Tulsa - Oklahoma City - Wichita Falls - Dallas/Fort Worth (later Arlington). At that time there were only two stations servingTexarkane – one being on US 65 east of town and one on State Line Road northwest of town along the Mexican border; today these locations are both served by I-40 Alternate through Arkansas Highway 964 (US 662). The company also built a depot at present day Easton Avenue and Louisiana Street which served as its primary terminal until it was replaced by the current station building at North Main Street in 1948 just east of downtown; now part of Interstate 44 Business Park within convenient walking distance for all residents except those living within I-40's 10lane freeway beltway ring road encircling town center In 1907 TXP leased land adjacent toArkansas Railroad Depot adjacent to Johnson Field northeast corner Live Oak & White Sands Roads for erecting crude oil storage tank farm& domestic service home trade garage oil production equipment etc., later known as TXP Refinery This refinery produced asphalt ,diesel fuel & other products until it closed in 1984 .
